Wage Theft Webinar

WEBINAR: How to comply with the new "wage theft" law as of July 1
A new state law passed the 2019 Legislature addressing what is commonly referred to as "wage theft": shortchanging employee paychecks. The Minnesota Chamber worked hard to pass compromise legislation that will help protect employers who unintentionally shortchange paychecks and increases penalties for employers who intentionally do so.

The new law's increased notice and record-keeping requirements go into effect July 1, 2019. Criminal sanctions take effect Aug. 1, 2019. We want to arm you with all of the details to comply with this law.

Disability Awareness at the Lyon County Fair event

The Southwestern Center for Independent Living (SWCIL) is currently working in conjunction with the Lyon County Fair Board seeking donations for Disability Awareness at the Lyon County Fair (previously known as Special Olympics/Disability Day at the Fair). Through this event our intent is to promote awareness and provide an opportunity for persons with disabilities to access Fair events.
Through these donations attendees will receive a gift bag with the following items: 
* Event Ticket of their choice to the Rodeo, Demo Derby or a Ride Wristband
* Malt Ticket
* $5.00 ticket to spend at food stand
* Flyer thanking sponsors for donating to this cause
* Other misc. items

Chamber E-Connection Guidelines and Policies

Newsletter Goals and Audience
The purpose of the Chamber E-Connection newsletter is to share our members' events with  other business and community members. It is an informational newsletter and helps to promote  our member businesses and their events.
Each Friday, our newsletter is sent to over 1,500 individuals. Our separate emails are sent to  the same list, but are held especially for our Chamber events and Business After Hours.

Newsletter Policy
E-Connection events are included based on requests from the member business. The following criteria are requested by the Marshall Area Chamber for event submissions:
  • Events flyers or submissions must be an actual event. We do not include sales or promotions.
  • Events can be included in the E-Connection for one week free of charge,
    and you have the option of adding one additional week for $10. 

  • Submissions must be sent the Wednesday prior to that Friday's
    E-Connection to be included to [email protected]

  • All event flyers are for Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce members only. 
Any Chamber member businesses events can be submitted to
the Chamber website as well here. Click submit new event.
