SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
NEW BLAST REGISTRATION PROCESS

To make sure that we are reaching as many of our Wolverine Families as possible, we are moving to a new Blast registration process starting in early October. We will be using the class information from the registrar to make sure families are on the correct lists to get both the weekly Blasts and also any special editions for the specific classes. If you are a grandparent/other family member/community member receiving the Blast to stay connected, don't worry, you will still receive the Blast!

During the gap month before we finish the data transition, if you are
  • A parent from the Class of 2019 and have additional students continuing through BHS, or
  • You have multiple children at BHS
Please click the Update Profile/Email Address link at the bottom of this email to update your profile as soon as possible. This will guarantee you receive all the Blast newsletter you supposed to get.

Our goal is to make this as seamless as possible, but mistakes may happen. If you do notice that you haven't received the weekly Blast you can still go to the sign up link and register.

Thank you for your understanding and patience!

ADVANCED PLACEMENT 2019-2020
- Important Information on Deadlines for Registration, Ordering, Payments

The College Board has made significant changes this year to the registration and ordering process and to the payment deadlines.  Due to this, our processes and payment deadline has also changed.

Students have registered for the AP Courses on their College Board accounts this month which has enabled them to access to the online resources offered by the College Board and at the same time register for the course exams.

This registration process does not mean their exam is ordered.  Consistent with prior years, the exam is ordered for your student based on your payment.  Please see below for detailed information:

Exam Cost Information

1. Exam cost is $94 per exam, late fee is $40 per exam for payment made after order deadline November 1st.

2. How do we make a payment for the exam fees?

Payments will be accepted on your student's school account.  Please follow directions on the Touchbase pages as the exam fees will NOT be placed on student accounts this year. https://touchbase.bsd405.org/  Payment is also accepted at school's accounting window.

3. Students on fee waivers are to notify the accounting office if they intend to take the exam.  If notified fees are waived.  If not notified NO Exam is Ordered.  Late exam fees are NOT fee waiverable.

4. Inability to pay should not be a reason for a student not taking an exam. Scholarship opportunities are available for families and students who would benefit from financial assistance but not on the fee waiver program.  Forms are available in the Counseling Center.  Completed forms to be processed prior to October 15th, payments are due prior to deadline, November 1.

5. Students who wish to self- study for an exam are to contact Lynn Semler, AP Coordinator at semlerl@bsd405.org to arrange for registration.

6. Our current district policy is no refunds after exam order has been placed

7. If your student is unable to commit to taking an exam by November 1st, a partial payment of $40 will be accepted with full payment due no later the February 1st. This is not eligible for scholarship funds.  If your student decides not to take the exam the $40 fee will NOT be reimbursed.

Students who choose this option please contact Lynn Semlersemlerl@bsd405.org to sign an agreement.

Late Testing/Testing Conflicts/Students w/Testing Accommodations
  1. Late testing is still allowed for College Board Allowed Circumstances; testing conflicts, academic or athletic event, emergency situations (serious injury, illness or family tragedy)
  2. January 17th is the College Board due date for coordinating testing accommodations for students.
Please work with your student's counselor if accommodations are not already approved for Advanced Placement Testing.
If you have additional questions regarding the Advanced Placement exam registration, ordering, payment process this year, please contact Lynn Semler, AP Coordinator at  semlerl@bsd405.org

Thank you!!!

SAVE THE DATE for the "FILL THE TRUCK" GOODWILL FUNDRAISER

BRING YOUR GOODWILL DONATIONS TO THE "FILL THE TRUCK" EVENT AND SUPPORT THE BELLEVUE HIGH BAND ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 26th.

Help the Bellevue High School Band Boosters raise money by cleaning out your closets and garage. Goodwill is bringing a truck to BHS on Saturday, October 26th to accept donations of used goods. Normally, Goodwill does not pay when you donate your stuff, but they have a special program for schools. The more trucks we can fill, the more money to support the Bellevue High Band (and you'll get a donation tax receipt).

You can bring almost everything (OLD TVs, COMPUTERS, SMALL ELECTRONICS, RIPPED CLOTHING, BROKEN TOYS, etc. - what Goodwill can't sell to the public, they sell to scrap dealers). On Wednesday, JVC pulled out a 2-0 win against soccer powerhouse Issaquah. Lastly, on Saturday, all three teams made the trek down south to face last year's 3A State Champions, the Gig Harbor Tides. JVC won with a high scoring 4-3, JV rallied hard, but eventually came to a 4-2 loss, and Varsity fought throw numerous illnesses, injuries, and frigid weather, but unfortunately fell 3-0 to the reigning champs. What great performance from our girls!
