Guam's economy has been greatly impacted by the COVID pandemic which has affected drastic changes in visitor arrivals and consumer spending, federal and military direct investment (and related programs), private Asian and US investment, transportation links, and Geo-political factors beyond our borders, among others. What will be the key economic issues that influence the growth and development for regional economies in the coming year?

We also have the pleasure of having our Think Tank Ad Hoc Committee present the Economic Diversification Initiatives to support our efforts to rebuild our economy. Don't miss this event!
In an effort to support our membership this holiday season, we are putting together a Buy Local Holiday Guide.

If you would like your business information to be included, please complete the quick form with your details and we will be sure to add your company! The Buy Local Holiday Guide will be available on our website and promoted in our various social media and email blasts. There is no cost for this service!
Missed the Annual Meeting?
You missed a good one!
Christine Baleto, Chairwoman of the Board, provided her end of the year address with a recap of the work of the Chamber over the past eleven months. Additional highlights included: Chamber President Catherine Castro's annual report to the membership plus updates from the Guam Young Professionals and our Think Tank Ad Hoc Committee. Ernie Galito, Nominating Committee Chairman announced the results of this year's Board Elections.

Congratulations to all our Board candidates! We appreciate all of you and look forward to working with you as we look ahead into the coming months!
Legislative Updates
This bill, introduced by Senator Regine Biscoe-Lee, seeks to prohibit any further use of septic tanks on certain lots located in the groundwater protection zone regardless of whether said lots are part of parental subdivisions. The realtors have expressed concern regarding this measure as it will unintentionally hurt families that intend to conduct a Parental Subdivision, and prevent any further development of these lots. If enacted, this mandate will also cause the price of real property to increase.

A public hearing has been scheduled for December 1, 2020.
