BHS Community,
You may notice that the calendar section of the Blast is much smaller than it was last week - we have updated it to reflect the recent guidance from the school district copied below. We do our best to keep the Blast up to date, but as the situation is constantly evolving, the
district website
is still the best source for updated information.
Community building use will be suspended beginning on March 7 until further notice. This includes all events led by community partners and all after- school activities led by outside vendors, with the exception of childcare and related services provided by Bellevue School District, Bellevue Boys and Girls Club, and Jubilee Reach. We are thankful for the dedication of our custodians and want to give them extra time to complete the additional cleaning currently needed in our buildings. Sporting competitions, concerts, dances, plays, and information nights are cancelled or postponed beginning on March 9 until further notice. We know how hard our students work and how much our community loves to enjoy their talents. However, we feel this precaution is necessary to reduce possible exposure to our school communities. Bellevue School District sports practices, rehearsals, and school club meetings will continue to be held, as we view those as extensions of the school day. All international field trips have been cancelled through the end of the school year. All overnight and out-of-state field trips have been cancelled through the end of March. Currently, students will still be permitted to go on local field trips that do not require an overnight stay. We are reviewing local competitions to determine the best course of action for each individual event.
After school activities at BHS like tutorial, clubs, practice, and rehearsals occurring right after school will continue as they are considered an extension of the school day. Beginning Monday, anything beyond that is cancelled until further notice.
Thank you,
The Blast Editors

BSD FAMILY ENGAGEMENT SURVEY BEGINS 2/25
The Bellevue School District is conducting a survey on family engagement in order to strengthen relationships between schools and families. Creating meaningful partnerships with parents helps students succeed both academically and socially.
The survey was emailed on February 25. The last day to complete the survey is March 24, 2020. The survey is only five questions and is available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Korean and simplified Chinese. You can visit your school's front office for more information.
Survey results will be shared with all families in a State of BSD Family Engagement Report before the end of the school year. School administrators will receive results for their individual schools and, as a next step, will work alongside parents to create family engagement practices for school improvement plans for the 2020-2021 academic year.

JUNIORS
Every year the junior class at BHS has a raffle to raise funds to lower the cost of senior events such as prom and graduation.
Our raffle includes: 4 Night Getaway in a villa at the Westin Los Cabos for 6 guests, Cabo restaurant giftcard, and $750 cash.
Our goal is to raise $30,000 by selling 2,000 raffle tickets for $15 each.
We still need a few more sellers to sell just 25 tickets each to achieve our goal! You may sell tickets to other BHS parents, co-workers, family members, or you may purchase them yourselves. You will have until the drawing on April 23 to sell them. We will provide email templates and marketing materials to help you sell.
We also really need parents to buy tickets! THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR FABULOUS SELLERS BELOW! Please contact one if you would like to purchase.
