If you've been putting off registering for the conference--or if your schedule for this weekend has unexpectedly cleared--join us! Online registration closes today, Wednesday, June 26, at 5 p.m. On-site registrations will be accepted.

The best things about graduate programs for creative writing are A) the time to write, B) classes with great instructors, and C) a close community of writers. But for many of us, a graduate program isn't in the cards. But you know what can be? The 2019 Summer Writing Retreat.
The retreat offers time to write, great instructors, and a terrific community of writers with nightly literary events. It all takes place in beautiful Kerrville at Schreiner University.
You'll find 2 classes for fiction writers, one class for memoir writers, and one class for nonfiction writers. There's even an option for simply writing all day instead of taking a class. All of our events - classes, writing time, special presentations from guest speakers, and evening events - will take place on campus throughout the week.
There will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to mix, mingle, and make new writing friends. All in one place!

ONLINE CLASS
Solving the Mysteries of Plot

6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
For many of us, plot is the most mysterious aspect of writing fiction. It's also the backbone of a good story. This class will examine varieties of narrative structures, ways to keep your scenes moving, mistakes to avoid, and tips for getting your story unstuck. Whatever your genre or skill level, you will learn fresh approaches for telling the story you're trying to tell.

Your plot has stalled (overall or in a particular scene), and you want to know how to get it moving again.

Mindy Reed (Austin) is proud to announce the publication of her novel
This is the Dawning: a Woodstock Love Story. The book is set at the iconic Woodstock Music Festival (2019 is the 50 year anniversary of Woodstock). This is the second book published by Memories Publishing. Reed's previous book

The Writers' League of Texas office will close Thursday, June 27 at noon due to the Agents & Editors Conference. It will be closed the following week and re-open on Monday, July 8.
