Gatton Academy wins innovation award for 10-year partnership in Costa Rica
The Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky has received a major national award for its 10-year partnership with Cloudbridge Nature Reserve in Costa Rica.

The Innovative Partnership award was announced at the National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools (NCSSS) Professional Conference on Nov. 6. The NCSSS includes member high schools, many ranked as the best in the country, along with affiliate college, university, summer program, foundation, and corporate members, that share the goals of transforming mathematics, science, and technology education.

The NCSSS Innovative Partnership Award recognizes inventiveness in partnerships between member schools and partner organizations. To receive the award, the partnership must support and advance goals of both organizations, strengthen STEM in the partners’ communities, and provide a replicable model that can be implemented at other member schools.
Senior reflects on WKU experience
Jinsey Stinson, a senior from Munfordville, initially chose WKU because of its proximity to her home. “WKU is close to where I’m from,” she said. “Also, I always thought that Big Red was so cute." What started out as a pragmatic choice turned out to be an experience filled with opportunities. Stinson is graduating in December with a double major in Business Data Analytics and Marketing with a concentration in Sales. During her time on the Hill, she has been involved in numerous student organizations, including Beta Gamma Sigma, Delta Sigma Pi, Omicron Delta Kappa, and the American Marketing Association.
