Cari italiani e cari amici dell'Italia,
 
non mancano, anche in questo mese di aprile, numerosi eventi legati alla scienza, alla lingua e alla cultura italiana che ci faranno sentire più vicini al nostro Bel Paese.
 
Anche a Boston celebreremo la Giornata delle Ricerca Italiana nel Mondo con il primo "Italian Startup and Mentoring Day", un nuova occasione di networking e incontro per numerosi studenti, ricercatori, professori e startupper italiani dell'area di Boston. Per maggiori informazioni potete consultare la locandina qui sotto. Inoltre, per tutti coloro che sono interessati ai più recenti sviluppi politici, economici e sociali italiani segnalo due eventi: " Italy's 2018 Election - Immediate Impact and Future Prognosis" il 13 aprile presso il CES di Harvard nonché l'evento "The State of Italy, Today" che si terrà il 22 aprile organizzato dai Professionisti Italiani a Boston (PIB) in collaborazione con la Società Dante Alighieri.
 
Infine, desidero segnalarvi un nuovo evento della serie "Duello ai Fornelli", la gara culinaria tra le associazioni studentesche italiane di Boston University, Harvard, MIT e Northeastern che si sfideranno ai fornelli per cucinare la migliore Pasta Cacio e Pepe... Un evento gustoso e divertente oltre che un'ottima occasione di incontro e promozione della Cucina italiana. In bocca al lupo e vinca la migliore squadra!

Dear Italians and dear friends of Italy,
 
during the month of April we have numerous events relating to science, Italian language and culture which will make us feel closer to our beautiful country.
 
Also in Boston we will celebrate the Day of Italian Research in the World with the first edition of  "Italian Startup and Mentoring Day" , a new occasion for networking and get-together for many students, researchers, professors and Italian startuppers in the Boston area. For more information please see the flyer below. Furthermore, for those of you interested in the recent political, economic and social developments in Italy I would like to point out two events:  "Italy's 2018 Election - Immediate Impact and Future Prognosis" on April 13th at the Harvard CES and also "The State of Italy, Today" organized by PIB (Professionisti Italiani a Boston) in collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Society, which will be held on April  22nd.
 
Finally I would like to bring to your attention a new edition of the series "Duello ai Fornelli", the culinary competition between the Italian Student associationsofBoston University, Harvard, MIT e Northeastern who will challenge each other for the best Pasta Cacio e Pepe.... A delicious and fun event as well as a great opportunity of get together and promoting Italian Cuisine. Good luck to everyone and may the best team win!

The Patrons of the Italian Language  is the new program run by C.A.S.IT., Inc., under the auspices of the Consulate General of Italy in Boston. 

C.A.S.IT., whose focus during the past 20 years has been to support schools, both public and private, that are eager to introduce the Italian language in their school curriculum, has proudly and successfully reached over 12,000 students of Italian and over 80 Italian teachers during the current school year. In most recent years, particular attention has been reserved to the growth of students who will sustain the AP Italian. In order to maintain and increase these results, a constant presence in the American school system as well as a strong visibility of the Italian culture are crucial!

Italy's 2018 Election - Immediate Impact and Future Prognosis


Italians went to the polls on March 4, 2018, to elect members of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate. The election tookplace under a new electoral system, and no party or coalition won a majority of seats. This round table panel brings together leading experts in Italian politics, elections, and political economy to discuss the outcome of the election and where Italy is headed in its aftermath.

Welcome to our Italian classes. Are you ready for an exciting and rewarding ten weeks studying the most beautiful language in the world? Our Italian  Level 1 classes are designed for beginners and Level 2 for more experienced speakers and readers of Italian. Classes are taught by native Italian speakers and will include a variety of communicative activities, short readings and and written exercises. During the ten weeks of study, participants will also study cultural aspects of Italy and its people.

Scuola Italiana del Sabato - PIB per bambini di Boston e del New England

La scuola, fondata 2 anni fa, insegna ad oltre 70 bambini tra i 3 e i 12 anni, divisi in 5 classi basate sull'età e sul livello di comprensione lessico/grammaticale di ciascuno; è l'unica in New England a tenere, di sabato, esclusivamente corsi full immersion in italiano e per questo accetta solo bambini che già conoscono l'italiano. Journal of Italian Cinema and Media Studies (JICMS)

Founded and edited by Professor Flavia Laviosa (Wellesley College, USA) in 2012 and published by Intellect (UK), JICMS is the only English-language academic journal representing a forum for theoretical, methodological and critical debate on Italian film and media production, distribution, and reception. The journal enters the international publishing world as a platform for dialogue between academics, filmmakers, and cinema and media professionals. The journal includes critical articles, book and film reviews, notes on Italian film festivals, and a special section on independent filmmakers.

The journal dedicates a special issue  (Volume 4:2, 2016), edited in collaboration with Massimo Mascolo, to the historic and artistic celebrations of the sixtieth anniversary of the David di Donatello Awards (1956-2016) with testimonials, reflections, and interviews with the following professionals in the Italian film industry: Gian Luigi Rondi, Giuliano Montaldo, Nicola Piovani, Paolo e Vittorio Taviani, Giuseppe Tornatore, Ennio Morricone, Emilia De Sica, Carlo Verdone, Giuseppe Battiston, Aldo Signoretti, Dino Trappetti, Luca Bigazzi, Francesca Calvelli and Paola Cortellesi. This special issue also includes several articles and the reviews of the films: Gian Luigi Rondi: Vita, Cinema, Passione di (Giorgio Treves, 2014); 50 Anni di David, 1956-2006, La storia per immagini (Massimo Mascolo, 2006); e La Grande Bellezza (Paolo Sorrentino, 2013).

Goethe disse "dimmi con chi vai e ti diro chi sei, e se so di cosa ti occupi sapro che cosa vuoi diventare".
 
L'Accademia Italiana della Cucina, ha lo scopo di identificare ristoranti italiani e di accertarne la qualita. La qualita del cibo non puo essere isolata dalla qualita dell'ambiente, dal servizio, dalla conoscenza e gentilezza del personale. In sintesi, la vera esperienza italiana a tavola composta da tutti quegli elementi che contribuiscono a rendere la colazione un evento culturale e non una attivita mangiereccia, lo scopo non e' di sfamarsi bensi di ricordare odori e sapori autentici di una storia millenaria se pure in evoluzione. Gli Accademici condividono l'amore per la buona tavola e per la sana conversazione, l'Accademia riprende il pensiero di Goethe almeno nella sua prima parte tanto da celebrare lo stare insieme e nutrirne insegnamento. Al ristoratore, dedichiamo la seconda parte del pensiero di Goethe pertanto ci poniamo la domanda - di cosa si occupa principalmente il cuoco? Se si occupa della cucina allora l'amore per gli ingredienti e come innovarli rispettando la storia e la classicita della cucina Italiana, diventa l'attivita primaria. Tutto il resto e' business o peggio fuffa. I cuochi nel Medioevo erano organizzati e rappresentavano la propria gerarchia, con Enrico IV di Francia la gerarchia era stata suddivisa in aree di competenza con i "maestri chef, cuochi e porte chapes" dedicati a organizzare pranzi di nozze. Questi chef, alla fine del loro apprendistato avevano il compito di offrire 6 libbre di carne o pesce a ciascun membro della Confraternita e riceverne la critica.
