Da Vinci Machines and Robotics opens July 21!
The Italian Renaissance will come to life at the Institute of Science in Da Vinci Machines and Robotics , presented by PNC Bank, July 21, 2018. Interact with more than 60 machines developed from original da Vinci drawings, see da Vinci’s dynamic inventions, paintings, sculptures, and architecture, and examine reproductions of his art, including world-famous paintings the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. 
A Summer Evening with da Vinci – Members-only event 
Cranbrook Institute of Science members are invited to join the Institute of Science for an awe-inspiring evening with Renaissance Man, genius, and visionary Leonardo da Vinci, Thursday, August 2 from 5:30 – 8:00pm. In addition to exploring Da Vinci Machines and Robotics , presented by PNC Bank, children will be captivated by hands-on activities, and adults will enjoy the presentation at 7:00pm: Leonardo da Vinci and the Mechanics of Nature with local expert Dr. Thomas Willette, History of Art lecturer at the University of Michigan. Summer camp: it’s not too late
Registration is still open for summer camps at the Institute of Science. Starting this month, campers will love exploring Cranbrook’s campus and the museum, tackling new activities, experiments, and investigations, and exploring Detroit on field trips to locations both famous and mysterious. A piece of the Michigan meteorite has landed at the Institute of Science 
If you weren’t one of the lucky few to find your own piece of the meteor that landed in southeast Michigan earlier this year, we have you covered. Now through the end of September, visitors to the Institute of Science can get a first-hand look at the 60-gram meteorite found in Hamburg, Michigan, which will be on display in the main gallery. The meteorite was donated to the Institute by Deborah Wietecha Grischke. 
Free First Friday – July 6
