Candle-lighting: 7:14 PM ~ פרשת שמיני
It is with profound sorrow that we mark the passing of one of our Yeshiva's founders, Mr. Stanley Barth, A"H. Mr. Barth worked closely with Rabbi Bilitzky, zt"l, in the early days to ensure the creation of a yeshiva in our area. Mr. and Mrs. Barth have been friends and supporters of our Yeshiva throughout its history, attending many important events, often taking pictures and always adding positivity and simcha. We extend condolences to Mr. Barth's Aishet Chayil, Mrs. Vita Barth, YHT alumni parents, Larry and Ellen Barth, and their children, our graduates, Aron ('05) and Yehudis, Jordan ('05) and Faigy and Jeremy ('10). We also extend condolences to Larry's siblings, Roy and Marilyn Barth, Rachelle and Rick Press and Cindy and Raymond Pavone. May they all be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Yerushalayim.
ARTICLE OF THE WEEK
Yom Hashoah was commemorated in Yeshiva Har Torah yesterday. Our 5th graders began the morning by sharing their insights and knowledge of the Holocaust with their parents in individual classroom presentations. This was followed by a tour of the exhibit of the special art project on "Memories" that the 5th graders had created under the direction of Mrs. Orit Lax, our art teacher. Also on display in the lobby were the projects created by the 6th graders, under the direction of their social studies teacher, Mrs. Minna Loebenstein, which highlighted the rich, Jewish life in the pre-War communities which were destroyed. The 5th graders and their parents and the 6th graders then entered the Beit Midrash for a commemorative program. Rabbi Menchel opened with a Dvar Torah, the 5th graders sang two moving songs and the survivors in the audience lit 6 memorial candles. Our guest speaker, Mrs. Helen Herman, a Holocaust survivor, then shared her incredible story of suffering, courage and unswerving Emunah in HaShem with our 5th-8th grade students.
