Placemats for Meals on Wheels

Each child from age 1 through 5 had the opportunity to decorate placemats for the local Meals on Wheels program. Placemats are delivered to people with their meal. We hear the placemats are very appreciated!
NEW Educational Materials!
Thank you everyone for supporting the preschool through our fundraisers and spirit nights.  Because of your generosity, the FOP funded the latest purchase of  new educational materials!  The teachers are so excited to share these things with the students!  Included in the purchase are upper and lower case magnetic letters, fine motor skill games for the toddlers, a case of magna-tiles, loved by all ages, and a set of water pitchers to practice pouring.  THANK YOU!!!

"A Friend Loves at all Times"    Proverbs 17:17
The Bible stories this month include the miracles of Jesus.  He calmed the storm, fed the thousands, healed the sick and the blind. We are so blessed to have Jesus love us too. There are miracles happening every day even now. He is listening. All we have to do is ask.

Ms Barb told the story of Jesus feeding the thousands.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Many of our preschool classes celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday by making hats, big red bow ties, and trying green eggs and ham or pudding that looked like green eggs and ham!
Music Day

The 4's and Trans K classes have been learning about different families of musical instruments.  The unit culimated with "music day" when we had special guests bring instruments for a special demonstration. Thank you to Ms Pam, Mr Andrew and Mr Jacob!
A "NOTE" from Ms Katherine  -

This month in music, students will use various rhythm instruments to create sound effects to accompany a story or musical piece. Students will also sing rhymes and perform various finger plays. Example songs include: Five Little Ducks, It Rained a Mist, Three bears on a Picnic, and Let's Go Fly a Kite.
The movement lessons will focus on group games and working as a team to build social interaction. Students will continue to work on catching and throwing skills with a partner. Example games include Red light/green light, Farmer in the Dell, What Time is It?
Please re-link your grocery cards to GSLP's number every school year. Each time you shop, the preschool benefits and it adds up. We effortlessly earned over $500 from Harris Teeter last year. More than one school can be linked at a time. We thank you for linking your cards. The mission of GSLP is to provide a Christ-centered early childhood preschool through faith-based education and service in a nurturing inclusive environment.
The Educational Philosophy of Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool
The focus of the preschool is to meet children’s needs and stimulate learning in these developmental areas:   *Physical    *Emotional/ Social    *Spiritual    *Cognitive        *Music/Art
To nurture these areas the Preschool’s objectives are to:
  • Integrate Christian faith formation throughout the curriculum.
  • Develop a cooperative/supportive relationship between the child, the family and the preschool.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Teach children about their relationship with God and all people in the world.
  • Provide tools for assessment of students’ progress.

Our teachers relate education to the child’s understanding about God and Christian life so that the spiritual and developmental aspects of the curriculum become a foundation for a lifelong faith.
