Flood Debris Pick Up Information
RESIDENTIAL FLOOD DEBRIS PICK UP ONLY!!
We will have a special flood collection on Tuesday, July 3rd, and Thursday, July 5th for flood debris only. The City will have to be split in two collection days due to the time frame and due to previous commitments with other communities. Please have your items on the curb. The haulers will try to get as much of the City done as they can on Tuesday afternoon. The haulers will pick-up any debris and appliances. Please try and have carpet in 5ft sections. No hazardous materials or construction materials. Any other questions please call City Hall at 279-3662
July 3rd Activities- Canceled
The July 3rd activities have been canceled due to the flooding at Colby Park.  The Windsor Heights Chamber of Commerce and Windsor Heights Foundation will re-schedule Abby Normal and the fireworks.  Stay tuned for more information on the new date. 
Windsor Heights Parade- July 4th 
On July 4th, the parade will start at 2:00 p.m. The route will travel 73rd Street to University Avenue to 66th St. to Colby Park, which will conclude the 4th of July activities for this year.Visit http://www.windsorheightsparade.com/ for more information on July 4th parade.  There are no activities at the park following the parade.
Flood and Water Damage Reporting
Please fill out this form and advise us of any water or flood damage that may have occurred to your residence during the storm on Saturday night. 
Disaster Recovery Center
Polk County and partners throughout the metro area will be hosting a flood disaster recovery center for those impacted by the floods. The flood disaster recovery center will be located at Polk County River Place (2309 Euclid Ave.) The center will be open Tuesday, July 3 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. The center will be closed Wednesday, July 4 to reassess resources and services for the remainder of the week. DART will be providing free rides to the flood disaster recovery center just let the bus driver know. Individuals can also contact 211 for additional resources and questions regarding the flood recovery center. If you need assistance on July 4th please call 211.

City offices will be closed on July 4th in observance of the holiday.  
Calling all Volunteers!!- July 7th Clean-up at Colby Park
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Saturday, July 7th 9 a.m. - Noon- Community Clean-up at Colby Park
Let's all join together and make Colby Park beautiful again! Residents and friends of Windsor Heights please volunteer to help clean-up Colby Park. Join your community at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 7th, at Colby Park. We appreciate any length of time you are able to donate! We will hold a brief meeting and provide volunteers with assignments in the park, bike trail, and dog park. The community center will be open as a cooling center throughout the clean-up, with water provided. We ask the volunteers to bring rakes, shovels, work gloves and any other yard equipment that might be used for park clean up. Please wear appropriate clothing for the heat and closed toed shoes.
69th Street Patching and Paving
Grimes Asphalt plans to finish patching south of Timmons Dr. to just north of Washington Ave., on Thursday. They then plan to pave 69th Street on Friday, July 6th.  All of this is dependent upon the weather.
Fireworks Information and Reminder
The City Council's position remains consistent and safety is the number one goal when it comes to regulating the use and sales of fireworks in the City of Windsor Heights.
Sales:
· The sale of consumer fireworks shall be regulated by the State Fire Marshal and all sellers must obtain a consumer fireworks seller  license. The firework establishments must comply with all the standards of the National Fire Protection Act 1124.
· Individuals 18 years and older may purchase fireworks.
· The zones in which fireworks can be sold are the community commercial district (CC) and the general commercial district (GC) within the City of Windsor Heights. You can view our zoning map on our website at  http://www.windsorheights.org/DocumentCenter/View/72/Zoning-Map-PDF
Use:
· The City of Windsor Heights prohibits the use or display of public fireworks unless approved by the City. (Code  Section: 40.02.12(3))
· The sale and use of novelty fireworks are permitted. Novelty fireworks may include snappers, party poppers, sparklers, snakes, glow worms and those defined according to the American  Pyrotechnics Association.
Windsor Heights Police Department will respond to incidents involving fireworks. Penalties may include a simple misdemeanor for individual use or a civil infraction for property owners. Individuals may possess consumer-grade fireworks but the act of discharging fireworks is prohibited within City limits.
