Board Updates and Discussion
The board approved HTK Architects for the facility needs assessment. HTK will be working with district personnel from now until this summer. During the summer months they will do site tours of each building. This fall they will take the information gathered and begin holding work sessions to gain input from community and district stakeholders. By the end of December they hope to have a plan based on district needs and building conditions. The final stages will be to provide the board with direction and prepare for the next steps.
Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Kelly Bolin provided updates regarding spring 2018 Recruitment and Retention of certified staff and Emergency Operations Plan. EOP updates included: training, telecommunication, deter or delay, building entrances and continued diligence.
The board had a follow-up discussion from the March 28 board meeting regarding goal setting sessions with KASB. The board reached consensus to meet with Dr. Doug Moeckel from KASB and a group selected from board members, administrators, staff members, and community members for an initial information gathering session. The meeting is scheduled for May 9 at 6 pm.
Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning George Abel updated the board on summer drivers education. There are currently 77 students registered. The district has hired three staff to complete the required driving time.
