Academic Advising and Course Registration

Most first year students will register this month. Students who have not yet made their advising appointment should do so ASAP. They can go online stop by or call the UARC at
(920) 424-1268 to make an appointment.

If your student delayed in making an appointment and now cannot get one before their registration date they are encouraged to work with a Peer Advising Liaison (PAL). A PAL is a highly trained upper class student who can help them identify requirements and use TitanWeb to select some initial courses so they can register on time. Changes can be made after their advising appointment if needed.

Students should prepare for their advising appointment by reviewing their STAR and available courses in TitanWeb; making a list of questions for their advisor and a list of courses they would like to take.

All first year students will enroll in a QUEST III course in second year; about half will complete this requirement in the fall and half will complete it in the spring.

Students who are required to take developmental courses in math, English or reading must successfully complete these courses within their first 30 credits at UW Oshkosh. Any such courses not completed in the first year should be taken in fall 2018.

End of the Year in Residence Life

The end of the 14-week semester is quickly approaching! Beginning April 16, students will be asked to share their plans for the Spring Interim period. Students remaining for the Spring Interim and living in Webster, Taylor, and Stewart as well as select floors in Fletcher Hall and North Scott will move to a different building or floor as renovation projects begin.

Students not enrolled in a Spring Interim course (May 14 - June 1) should plan to check out of their residence hall on Saturday, May 12. Students enrolled in a Spring Interim course will check out no later than Friday, June 1. Information on end of the year residence hall procedures, including rental loft return, will be shared with students through email, posters, and community meetings. Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Office has begun awarding financial aid for the 2018-19 school year. The reviewing and awarding of aid will continue weekly going forward. Students should be checking their Titan Web to view or to make sure all items on their "to-do" list are submitted to financial aid.

Is your student planning to take summer courses? Do they want to use financial aid for payment of summer courses? If so, your student must complete a short summer financial aid application online at financialaid.uwosh.edu under forms and application. The application form will be available April 2, 2018. Students must take a minimum of six credits in order to be eligible for federal student loan funds. Students should limit their summer borrowing in order to preserve funding for the Fall and Spring terms when they are taking more credits and typically have increased costs.

Did you know that April is financial literacy month? It's a great opportunity to talk with your student about managing their finances and building a sound financial plan. See how well you do competing against your student and peers by taking this online quiz from the Council for Economic Education. It should spark some interesting conversation!
