Following the celebration of the 100 graduates of the Iona School for Ministry, 10 new deacons were ordained at Christ Church Cathedral, Houston, Saturday, June 22.



“We are on the right path,” assured the Rt. Rev. Hector Monterroso, bishop assistant of the Diocese of Texas to the nearly 265 Episcopalians who participated in the Hispanic Lay Leadership Conference.

Applications are now open through July 10 for churches interested in participating in the  Reboot Youth Ministry Initiative , a program designed to strengthen congregational ministries with youth through programmatic innovation. Reboot will select and resource a cohort of 18 congregations  within a 300-mile radius of Dallas without a paid full-time youth worker . These 18 congregations—the “Starter Cohort”—will undergo a discovery process to determine the viability of ministries with youth in their communities and will be introduced to current innovation models for youth ministries. For more information about the initiative, visit the website or contact staff at  reboot@smu.edu .
Episcopal Migration Ministries Seeks Donations to Help Refugees

The Episcopal Migration Ministries and Christ Church Cathedral have partnered up with the Catholic Charities Humanitarian Respite Center in McAllen, TX in an attempt to relieve the basic needs of 400-600 asylum-seekers. Items such as clothing, toiletries and baby supplies are some of the items they're collecting. Click here to view the entire list. Do you currently mentor an active seminar group and would like more training? Register to the Eduation for Ministry Mentor Training taking place July 12-14 at Camp Allen. Check-in will start at 2 p.m. on Friday. Training will continue through 3 p.m. on Sunday. Participant must be present for all 18 hours of training. Registration can be done online. With the objective of bringing together Episcopal youth groups and adults from throughout the diocese and the country who want to help with Harvey relief efforts in the summer of 2019, Episcopal Strong will be serving multiple areas around Houston devastated by the flooding from Hurricane Harvey. The tools for contextual ministry, church planting, asset-based community development and community organizing all revolve around the techniques that have evolved under the banner of community development. Nuevos Horizontes will explore how church leaders can use such tools for establishing sustainable community relationships, which are at the crux of the missional church becoming stakeholders in any given community.
