Alumni Hockey and Basketball Games - Still Time To Play!

There's still time to join the Alumni Hockey Team and/or the Alumni Basketball Team! A group of alumni will take on the Senior Basketball Team on Thursday, March 15th at 12:15 pm in the St. Bon's gym, followed by a face-off against the Junior High Hockey Team at 2:00 pm at Bussey Horwood Arena. A little out of practice? No problem! It's just for fun. Come on out and play for your Alma Mater!

If you are able to play on Thursday, March 15th, please contact Jessica Whalen at jwhalen@stbons.ca or (709)726-0024 Ext. 228.

St. Bon's Alumni: Giving Back Over Winter Break

From left: Lauren Stringer '17, Claire Genest '16 and Ben Dornan '17. Note the bag of fresh, locally made bagels from Georgestown Bakery that they shared with staff!
It was a welcome surprise to see Claire Genest '16, Lauren Stringer '17 and Ben Dornan '17 walk through the Mullock Hall doors on Wednesday, February 21. All three are on winter break from university - Claire attends Mount Allison in New Brunswick while Lauren and Ben attend Dalhousie in Nova Scotia. We are always thrilled to have our alumni back for a visit. It was a further surprise to find out that they were in the neighbourhood because they had just come from serving breakfast at The Gathering Place, where they all previously to volunteer weekly through the St. Bon's Christian Service Program. We are proud that our alumni feel the call to serve the poor and marginalized beyond their high school requirements - true men and women for and with others.

St. Bon's has a rich history, and we are dedicated to preserving the heritage of our school. With constant projects to restore and repair our buildings, we are proud to be honoured by the City of St. John's with a Heritage Award. Some of our recent initiatives include the restorations of the wooden staircase and wainscoting in Mullock Hall. These projects are funded by the Annual Fall Gala and SBC Cash Lottery. President Tom McGrath and Chair of the Board Barbara Mason accepted the award at City hall. They were even treated with a trip to alumnus Mayor Danny Breen's '77 office to see a Sherry Eddy painting of the old St. Bon's grounds, pre-Mullock Hall era.
