Wellness Tree Walks for High School Students
This year, our Wellness Tree Walks continue to be a big success, connecting hundreds of high school students to the wonders of trees and the health benefits of being outdoors. Canopy's Education Manager, Natalie Brubaker, is taking students out of the classroom and into nature where
she invites them to mindfully observe, touch, and smell the leaves, fruits, trunks of the trees. As they learn about the various tree species on their campus, the students have this time to relax and take a welcome break from their stressful day.
Jeanette Tucker, Living Skills teacher with Gunn High School, shared that on back-to-school night a parent approached her and said that her daughter thought it was amazing that they took a tree walk during our school day. It was her favorite lesson so far.
These walks will continue throughout spring at the Palo Alto Unified School District and Mountain View High School District.
