Greetings!

Welcome to the Change Happens! quarterly newsletter, The Changing Times . Our name highlights "change," but more than that, it embodies the evolution our clients and the community undergo when truly empowered with education, resources, and hope. This year, Change Happens! has been busy empowering people to help themselves through comprehensive programs and services. With your help, Change Happens! has changed the life trajectory of many underserved individuals in the community. Read more about our work below and join us as we continue to #MakeChangeHappen !
THE 11TH ANNUAL SPRING BREAKFAST
Thank you for joining us!
The Spring Breakfast was an exciting and informative event, in which guests learned about the life-changing work Change Happens! does within the community. We heard testimony from Change Happens! clients, including a moving speech by a former Rescue In Motion client who shared his journey out of homelessness and addiction to stable employment and becoming a published author!

We are grateful for all the changemakers that attended the 11th Annual Spring Breakfast and supported our work by planting seeds of promise.
WELCOMING A NEW BOARD CHAIR
Change Happens! is governed by a board of directors made up of influential professionals with diverse backgrounds. The Board supports the agency with oversight, as all of the agency's operational activities are implemented and approved by the Board of Directors.

This year, Vanessa T. Reed, a Change Happens! board member for over 10 years, stepped up to serve the agency as the new Board Chairwoman. Mrs. Reed is the External Affairs Market Manager of Comerica Bank Texas, which seeks to champion agencies that work to directly impact the lives of the most underserved and in need throughout Houston. Mrs. Reed is thrilled to lead Change Happens! into its next era of making change happen.

Please help us congratulate Chairwoman Vanessa T. Reed by joining us this fall at the events we will host in celebration of our 30th anniversary.
Vanessa T. Reed,
Change Happens! New Board Chairwoman
PROGRAM IMPACT
This spring, Change Happens! raised funds to send ten Change Happens! youth to Washington, DC June 23-25, 2019 with The Close Up Foundation. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT
The HYPE 2.0 Annual Teen Summit was a huge success!
The "That's on Me: My CHOICES make CHANCES for CHANGE!" Youth Summit!

Change Happens kicked off summer with FREE food, raffle prizes, and a chance to meet new people from all over Houston. The "That's on ME!" youth summit for teens was hosted by the H.Y.P.E 2.0 Program: H.Y.P.E Connection on June 8th at the Houston Community College.

This free, all-day summit brought everything teens needed to confidently jump from step one to the next phase in life, including sessions on relationships, future planning, health and fitness, and much more. Parents, were not left out, as interactive presentations on parenting and sex education were offered as well! Along with several informative speakers who led relevant breakout sessions, "I Am Justified", a local Christian artists, hit the stage to inspire the teen audience to always make smart choices.
