Policy
American Nurses Association (ANA) membership assembly
ANAC President Jeff Kwong and Executive Director Carole Treston attended the ANA membership assembly June 22 and 23 in Washington, DC. ANAC is a voting organizational affiliate member of ANA at the assembly. One of the key responsibilities of the ANA membership assembly is to determine policy and positions for the ANA. Topics included:
- Nurses' roles in the opioid crisis and APRN prescribing of MAT
- Aid in dying legislation
- Support for Title VIII legislation (nursing education)
- Safe staffing legislation
ANAC joined with the state nursing organization and organizational affiliates in a unanimous endorsement of the ANA statement on the current administration's practice of separating children from families at the United States border.

World Health Assembly, May 22-26 in Geneva, Switzerland
The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO). This was the first annual assembly held since the appointment of
Elizabeth Iro
as the first WHO Chief Nursing Officer. Topics included:TB, health and climate change, global vaccines and the global health workforce, which the vast majority of is nurses. ANAC member Dr. Nancy Reynolds, associate dean of global affairs at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing presents a
short video overview.

Education
ANAC hires education program director
We are pleased to announce Sheila Fitzgibbons, ACRN, BSN, MPA has joined the ANAC staff as education program director. She has served as director of nursing at the University of California Irvine AETC and has worked on PrEP provider scale-up and practice transformation projects. Her role at ANAC includes developing educational programming and services for members and other partnerships. One of her first efforts has been the
