Please join me this Thursday, June 27, for the first in a pop-up series of events to bring county resources to District 3! A representative from the Chesapeake Bay Trust will conduct an overview presentation about the Department of the Environment Rain Check Rebate program at both 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., leaving lots of time to discuss your specific questions and concerns after each presentation. Learn how you can be
reimbursed for implementing storm water management practices on your property!
Then please save the date for the next event on Thursday, July 25, to learn more about tax credits for homeowners and renters and apply before the September deadline.
Last year I was incredibly proud to sponsor legislation to strengthen our business and commercial recycling laws in Prince George's County. The legislation passed and the more stringent requirements go into effect on Monday, July 1.
CB-12-2018 states that all Prince George's County business owners, tenants, or operators of commercial and industrial properties, including but not limited to offices, stores, hotels, motels, gas stations, restaurants, factories, processing plants, and manufacturing enterprises,
shall provide at least equally sized and equally convenient recycling containers to accompany each trash container on the interior and exterior of the property, including along storefronts.
Properties should also include a collection system for the recyclables.
A list of items that can be recycled shall be clearly displayed on or near the container.

When the County implemented the ban on polystyrene (commonly known as Styrofoam) in 2016, advocacy groups such as the Sierra Club and concerned residents were key to ensuring business compliance with the legislation. Please talk to your favorite restaurants and stores, your office or apartment building manager, and others about the new recycling regulations and encourage them to comply right away!
