City of Orlando District 1 Commissioner Jim Gray and Orlando Fire Chief Roderick S. Williams invites Orlando residents to a Touch-A-Truck event with free refreshments and interactive demonstrations while meeting the firefighters of Station 15. Firefighters will showcase our newest investment in public safety, a custom built Sutphen Tower Truck apparatus.
Tower Truck 15 is the eighth ladder truck and one of four special response vehicles in our fleet. It will be servicing the Lake Nona area of nearly 30,000 residents. Tower 15 also features state-of-the-art fire operations capabilities, with the unit’s ladder bucket reaching 100 feet with two larg
e
bore water hoses reaching 250 feet to be able to knock down fires in multistory structures.
Highly trained personnel will be assigned to the unit called our Technical Rescue Team, which will now be one of four in the City, as well as a second Dive Team to cover the Southeast side of the City.

Additionally, at the event, citizens will learn crucial safety information through demonstrations and there will be activities for children including charging the fire hose line and fire safety coloring books.
