We now only have one more school day remaining in the third quarter as there is no school for students on Friday, March 13. Our Knights will be out all next week on spring break with classes resuming on Monday, March 23.
As a final reminder, our 2020 Parent Survey will be taken off line at the end of this week. If this applies to your household and you still have not taken the survey, would you please do so today? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Enjoy the rest of this week and good luck to everyone at tomorrow's Sun Games! The Thursday weather forecast looks like an ideal spring day to be outside for what will be a great event!
With Knight Pride,
Stephanie R. Jackson, M. Ed.
Principal
Lake Nona Middle School
If you should ever see or hear of something suspicious or unusual, please say something right away to any teacher, administrator, coach or our SRO. Thank you.

Congratulations to our Lake Nona Middle School choirs who earned straight Superior ratings at the 2020 Music Performance Assessment! This is an event where middle schools throughout Orange County prepare two pieces and perform them for three distinguished judges. They are evaluated on factors such as tone, blend, control, intonation, diction, technique, posture, artistry, and stage presence. They are given an overall rating that ranges from one to five, one being the highest. They also participated in sight reading assessment - where they perform music they have never seen before, and also received a Superior rating. We are so proud of these amazing musicians and look forward to their Spring Concert on May 8th!

Making sense of the chart:
The chart illustrates the number of weekly classroom visits made by members of the Lake Nona leadership team since the start of 2020. It is
not
adjusted for four-day school weeks or the fact that the leadership team has not been at a 100% compliment so far this year. On an unadjusted basis, the leadership team has still averaged 100 classroom visits per week in 2020. This is significant in that high leadership visibility in the classrooms in support of our educators is one positive form of quality control.

Individual Classroom Highlights . . .
|
Parents - We are seeing a HUGE increase in the amount of damaged laptops. Please take a moment and speak with your students regarding the following guidelines:
- Close and secure laptops each transition time. Students should never walk down a hall with an open laptop in their hands.
- Place backpacks down gently. We see many students slam or forcefully throw them down.
- Keep water bottles and other liquids on the outside of the bag and away from your laptop. Even better- in another bag!
- Any damaged device needs to be brought to the media center immediately. It will be assessed, photos of the damage taken, and students will be sent to the dean to complete a witness statement regarding the damage. At that point, parents are contacted to discuss the damage.
The OCPS fine structure for damaged devices is as follows:
- 1st Offense- 50.00
- 2nd Offense- 100.00
- 3rd Offense- Price of laptop or actual repair cost
