Greetings from the Director 

There are many activities for residents of all ages to enjoy at the Concord Free Public Library this summer. Children and teens are invited to join the Libraries Rock! Summer Reading Program.  Participants will receive prizes in recognition of their reading accomplishments. 

Be sure to take a picnic dinner and come enjoy one of our outdoor concerts on the lawn sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.  The Concord Players will also return to the Main Library with outdoor performances of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar during the weekends of 7/28 - 7/29 and 8/4 - 8/5.

Best wishes for a wonderful summer.  Have a happy 4th of July.

Music on the Lawn Concert Series
Music on the Lawn concert series will feature two music groups in July.

Lenny Gomulka is an American musician, singer, bandleader, composer, and publisher. His twelve-time Grammy Award Nominee band Lenny Gomulka and Chicago Push will perform Polish-style and Chicago-style polkas.  
 
Fellswater Scottish Band
Wednesday, July 18, 7:00 p.m.
Main Library Lawn
Fellswater is Boston's dynamic Celtic music ensemble. They play a wide range of music from traditional to modern compositions that draws from the heritage of all the Celtic nations, especially Scotland, Ireland, Brittany and Canada.
 
Generously sponsored by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library, the concerts are free and open to all.  (Rain Location:  Hunt Gym, 90 Stow St., Concord, MA)

Let's celebrate Bastille Day! Check out a copy of Around my French Table, by Dorie Greenspan at the Circulation Desk, pick a recipe, and prepare it for the program. Beede and Books

The Beede Center of Concord and the Concord Free Public Library have teamed up to bring you stories and a swim. Meet at the Beede Center lobby for a storytime at 11:00 a.m. and then enjoy a swim in the Kiddie Pool until noon. This free program is perfect for children age three years and up.

Storytime Yoga with Instructor Ann Vigne*

Basic Cake Decorating Workshop*

Kids age 10 years and up are invited to learn the basics of cake decorating with Chef Dan Charbonneau from the culinary department of Minute Man Technical High School.  Chef Dan will lead a workshop on the basics of cake decorating and participants will decorate a small cake.  This popular workshop requires registration. Did you know? Services for the Visually Impaired
The Concord Free Public Library (CFPL) has a number of excellent resources and services for visually-impaired patrons. For example, CFPL has 3,400 large print books and 3,300+ audiobooks/digital audiobooks in its collection. In addition, braille books for children are available to borrow through the Minuteman Library Network (MLN), while additional titles for adults and children are available from the Perkins Braille and Talking Book Library. The MLN also has 2,000+ DVDs with described audio.

Additional resources include: reading glasses, a magnifying glass, a CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television) magnifier, a large print keyboard, and a computer with Kurzweil text-to-speech software at the Main Library and the Fowler Branch. The Library also provides "Direct to You" home delivery service for visually impaired or home-bound patrons who cannot visit in person.
New at the Library! New York Times Digital
New York Times Digital is now available to all patrons of the Minuteman Library Network libraries. This free service includes unlimited article access on library computers, as well as on home computers and mobile devices via promotional codes.
