Mission of the Month-Lutheran Disaster Response

October Mission of the Month

Lutheran Disaster Response

In light of the many recent disaster events worldwide, we have chosen Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR) as our October Mission of the Month.  LDR brings God's hope, healing and renewal to people whose lives have been disrupted by disasters in the United States and around the world. When the dust settles and the headlines change, LDR stays to provide ongoing assistance to those in need. When you give to LDR, 100% of your donation goes directly to relief work.

We invite you to make a contribution on any of the Sundays in October.  Find out more at here.
Dedication of Paschal Candle
On September 23rd we rejoiced to dedicate a new Paschal Candle in our sanctuary.  The Paschal, or Christ, candle is a reminder of the light of Jesus Christ that shines in the darkness.

We give thanks to Ann Stopfel for this generous gift
given in memory of her husband-Elwood Stopfel, and
her son-Michael Kean.
Stewardship
Stewardship is a year-round emphasis at St. James. In October, we will focus our efforts on preparing for the coming year.  Throughout the month, you will receive several mailings from St. James which focus on our thankfulness for your support.

Without the support of our members, we cannot do all that God calls us to do.  Be on the lookout in your mailbox and in weekly worship for Stewardship resources!
New Photos for Photo Wall
Pictorial Directory

It is time for us to prepare a new directory of our membership, complete with photos.

We are asking that you send us a family photo of your choosing so that we can begin to collect and compile new photos for a directory and our display wall.  You may send photos to: [email protected]

If you are unable to send a photo electronically, you may drop a picture off in the office.  If you would like someone at St. James to take your photo on an upcoming Sunday, please speak with Pastor Andrew.
Barrington Day of Caring - There's still time to register!

First Annual Barrington Day of Caring
Monday, October 8
Noon-5pm

On Monday, October 8 people from all over our community will gather for a day of service that will include assisting local residents in need with projects that include: yard work, light carpentry, cleaning, and general service.  In addition, we send teams to several local areas to clean and beautify, including: Barrington Beach, the bike path, Latham Park, and others.  This is a great opportunity to serve people in need and come together as a community of care. This event was inspired by the work of the Barrington Community Panel and is chaired by Pastor Andrew and Rev. Dale Azevedo from the Barrington Congregational Church.  Special thanks to our partners at We Share Hope, the BAY team, and the Barrington Recreation Department!
