2019 Award Entry Spotlight:
Cape Coral CRA

The City of Cape Coral's CRA is dedicated to improving economic
development and revitalizing infrastructure in their community.

Cape Coral CRA's project,  SE 47th Terrace Streetscape, focuses on creating a pedestrian friendly destination in the entertainment zone of downtown Cape Coral.

The project coordinated ideas with the City and surrounding businesses to determine the appropriate mix of site features and technology enhancements. The project includes landscape improvements, street furnishings, Smart street lighting, removable bollards, kiosks and free Wi-Fi.

The SE 47th Terrace Streetscape project created an aesthetic, yet
effective  redevelopment infrastructure for the City of Cape Coral and was entered in the Capital Projects Beautification category.

As a part of our appreciation for this year's outstanding award entries, we are highlighting various projects until the official winners are announced on October 17.

Panama City Beach Extends CRA Timeline

The Panama City Beach City Council recently voted to extend the life of its Front Beach Road Community Redevelopment Area from 2031 for at least another ten years.

Adopted by the council in 2001, tax revenues collected from within the CRA boundary are diverted to the agency for use in funding roadway redesign, underground utilities and other improvements.

CRA Director David Campbell said the CRA is "one of the most important projects the city has ever undertaken," and its successful completion will benefit both the city and county as economic growth fueled by the street improvements leads to significantly higher tax revenues.
