Over the next week there are several important events, including a Council public discussion on the Comprehensive Housing Strategy. I hope you can participate in one or more.

The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration and Purple Line Transit Partners are hosting a Purple Line Open House on Thursday, October 4, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the University of Maryland Adele H. Stamp Student Union Atrium, 3972 Campus Drive. This is an open house format to provide information about upcoming construction activities and answer questions, so come by anytime during the event. 

If you have not done so, 
please sign up to receive Purple Line construction updates via text message or email. You can select which portions of the line are of interest to you.

Join Board of Education Representative Lupi Grady and me on Tuesday, October 9, at 6:30 p.m. at William Wirt Middle School, 6200 Tuckerman Street, Riverdale, for an update on the NEW William Wirt Middle School.

The architect will share the schematic design for the new building and PGCPS will share the timeline. We need and welcome your feedback!

Also on October 9, is your opportunity to help shape the future of housing in Prince George's County. The Prince George's County Council Comprehensive Housing Strategy Ad-Hoc Subcommittee is ho
sting a Comprehensive Housing Strategy Report Presentation and and Public Discussion on Tuesday, October 9, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room, First Floor, County Administration Building, 14741 Gov. Oden Bowie Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. Sign up online to speak that evening or register on the clipboard at the front of the room, when you arrive.

Please spread the word to all high school students you know about my 4th Annual Parkdale High School College and Career Fair which I'm hosting with Board of Education Member Lupi Grady on Wednesday, October 10, at 5:30 p.m. at Parkdale High School, 6001 Good Luck Road. In addition to college recruiters and employers from across the region and country, we will have several 20-minute break-out sessions on NCAA eligibility, paying for college, resume and interview skills, and more. Break-out sessions begin at 5:00 p.m. and the Fair will open at 5:30 p.m. All students and families are welcome!
