Summer 2018
Dear Friends,

Now that we are officially a couple of weeks into the summer, I hope many of you have made it down to Delaware's beaches, enjoyed some time in our parks, or otherwise taken advantage of being outside.

Sea Grant exists to serve our coastal communities, and in Delaware tourism is a big part of building Resilient Communities and Economies, one of the national program's focus areas. We support our tourist economy at both small and large scales, and examples of both can be found on page 8 of our new annual report, just out this week.

As you can see from the cover, much of this year's Reporter focuses on another priority of Delaware Sea Grant: workforce development. Last year we began finding ways to help place students in internships or fellowships that would allow them to grow in their work understanding and protecting coastal and marine resources. I am pleased to let you know that the successes you'll read about in the Reporter have led to new opportunities for this year as well.

I hope you will take some time to learn about what Delaware Sea Grant has accomplished in the past year and look through the briefs below for some additional news about the program. As always, we appreciate your support!

Regards,

Kathy Coyne, Ph.D.
Director, Delaware Sea Grant
