Update on Day Camps in NUSD: City Council Approves Additional Funding Limited Spaces Still Available for K-5

NUSD Board of Trustees approved investing $1 million for Day Camps run by our community partner, Sacramento Chinese Community Service Center (The Center) for students in grades K-5 who need support to participate in Distance Learning. We are pleased to share that the Sacramento City Council approved $500,000 in funding to fully offset any costs to families to attend the Center’s Day Camps. This funding will support and reduce the District’s investments to run the Day Camps while allowing families to get the support that they need and to have adult supervision for their children during this critical time. Limited space is still available. To apply, click here to complete the interest form.
Anti-Bullying PSA Contest

Each year in October, NUSD celebrates National Bullying Prevention Month.

Last year, students designed a poster related to bullying prevention. This year, students are invited to submit a 60-second PSA that will help spread their message about how each of us (individually or as a group) can prevent/end bullying in a kind, nonviolent manner. The contest will be divided into four winners: K-3, 4-6, 7-8, and grades 9-12.

The contest starts Monday, Oct. 1, and all entries must be submitted at commsteam@natomasunified.org before 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11th.

Winning PSAs will be announced on Friday, October 16. Winners will be delivered lunch of their choice from a pre-selected menu.

Rules and guidelines for the contest can be found at www.natomasunified.org/bullying/psa-contest.
