After her presentation, Ms. Yuisa Montañez, Esq. presented each student with a copy of the U.S. Constitution.  Here, Gentleman of the Week Brandon, Grade 8, displays the Constitution and prepares to take Ms. Montañez and Board member Mrs. Joan MacNaughton on a tour of the school.
Greetings from Mr. Gault

What an exciting month September was: the start of the new school year, welcoming new students and staff, the Farm Trip and the Golf Outing just to mention some of the highlights. This year both our fifth and eighth grade students participated in the Farm Trip experiencing the Green Mountains of Vermont at Farms for City Kids, Spring Brook Farm. It has been a most rewarding grace-filled time, punctuated by the amazing young gentleman whom we have the pleasure of encountering and teaching each day. What vibrancy and life these young men bring to The De La Salle School.

In mid-September. Mr. Patrick Aristhene, class of 2006, returned to speak to our Eighth-grade class about the opportunities they have available to them if they think positive, believe in themselves and are willing to work hard. Patrick invited a friend of his, Mr. Drew Brand, founder of Black Diamond Entrepreneurship. Mr. Brand's theme was success psychology with a focus on helping the students to find ways to take control of their life, be responsible for their actions, and to be in charge of their own destiny.

On Friday, 28 September we began a career information program that will happen on a monthly basis. Thanks to the initiative of board member Joan MacNaughton, we began our series with a presentation by Ms. Yuisa Montañez, Esq. Ms. Montañez, a graduate of Columbia University School of Law, is a partner with the firm Loeb Block & Partners LLP. Ms. Montañez's presentation was her story of success and how it was made possible through hard work and support from her family. At the conclusion of her presentation the students were excited to ask her several questions to which she very thoughtfully answered and offered our students encouragement to reach their personal goals. At the end of her talk Ms. Montañez presented each of our students with their own copy of the Constitution of the United States of America.

As we move forward with the school year, we have many plans to invite other professionals to engage our students. Our hope is that these professionals demonstrate that all things are possible when you believe in yourself and have the courage to follow your dreams no matter how difficult that may seem.

Thank you for continuing to believe in our kids and to be part of our story. Your support allows our students to HOPE!
