Welcome back!
The Summit Educational Foundation Board of Trustees welcomes all of our district families back to school for 2017-18. Hopefully all current school families received our "Back to School" letter, pictured right, which summarizes the $377,000 in grants to our district that SEF approved last year. In case you missed it, you can read the letter on our website! We extend a big "thank you" to all of the donor families that made such a large number of grants possible.
Thanks as well to all of the families who have already made donations this new school year. If you have not yet donated and would like to make an online gift, please visit our donation page by

LightBox books have lit up the Library and Science Curriculum at Brayton
Last spring, Brayton School Media Specialist, Courtney Kaczynski, wrote a grant for ten interactive LightBox books to be used in conjunction with the 5th grade science curriculum. All 5th grade students will have access to digital versions of ten different nonfiction titles on various science topics. The students are reading and exploring thru the Lightbox digital interactive books on the Chrome books that each 5th grade student just received. Each Lightbox title includes video clips, audio of text, weblinks, activities, slideshows, quizzes, links to Google maps, vocabulary.com, and curriculum resources. One student shared he is enjoying this new resource because "there are so many options and many of the photos in the book turn into videos". These interactive books are allowing the students to dig so much deeper into science.
