Three Questions to Help You Take Your Flourishing Next Step

If you have been reading ECO newsletters or have been at a place where one of the ECO staff has given a presentation, you have probably heard the phrase, "Flourishing Next Step". The concept of Flourishing Next Step is that every church and every leader will identify where and how God is calling them to grow for greater flourishing. We do not dictate what that Flourishing Next Step is, but rather give tools and resources to help discern where God is uniquely calling you and your church to grow.

While the phrase itself is new for us, the concept certainly isn't. Our desire has always been that churches wouldn't simply change denominational jerseys, but rather that ECO would provide an environment that would spur one another on toward flourishing.
The ultimate purpose behind the narrative questions we provide

ECO Leadership Series

Coach Training

Church Transformation Cohort

This Leadership Series will cover Intro to Leadership Core Competencies and Certified Lay Pastor 1 and/or Certified Lay Pastor 2. The purpose of the ECO Leadership Series is to help leaders be better equipped to use their gifts, to become more effective in their ministry roles, and/or train leaders for a role they have yet to step into.

Having a coach can be a powerful asset in ministry and discipleship. More and more, pastors and leaders recognize the value of a quality coach to equip them to cultivate skills and leadership strategies, mentor young leaders, strategically mobilize volunteers and teams, and improve as counselors. Join us for Coach Training, January 31 and February 1st in Colorado Springs immediately following the National Gathering.

Join us as we work alongside churches seeking significant transformation and revitalization who desire to move forward in mission and ministry as a church.

For more information about any of these new opportunities contact Kim Davis,
Ministry Resource Coordinator & Assistant to Dana Allin, at kim@eco-pres.org .

ECO GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT

presents

Best Practices for Mission Teams:

Church mission leaders provide direction and opportunities for disciples to connect to God's mission in your community and the world. It's a big and important calling!

A team of experienced mission leaders from various ECO churches created this video-based discussion resource to encourage and strengthen the ministry of other mission leaders. This 6-week course covers important topics for mission teams/committees by providing an outside teaching perspective and initiating discussions for discerning next steps for strengthening the mission ministry of your church.

The course is self-paced, but created to add to your existing meeting agenda over 6 meetings. Enrollment is $15, which includes a digital download of the discussion guide and access to 6 videos. You can register one person to facilitate your group, or have each person on the team register for individual access.  Register or Learn More Here

If you have questions, contact Jen Haddox, ECO's Director of Global Engagement, at jen@eco-pres.org.

Global Engagement: Connect at the ECO National Gathering!

There are a number of opportunities to connect with Global Engagement at the National Gathering in Colorado Springs, CO January 29-31.  We hope you'll "add-on" the Global Engagement Dinner to your registration. We plan to enjoy good food and conversation with other mission leaders while we learn about the gospel movement among Iranians.

From World Renew - response stories to storm crises

Check out these stories about their response to each of the current storm crises.  We will communicate news of opportunities for practical help and clean up when it becomes available.

Super Typhoon Mangkhut:
World Renew is preparing to respond to Super Typhoon Mangkhut, which has lashed the Philippines, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.  Mangkhut made landfall in the early hours of Saturday, September 15. With wind gusts of over 250km/h, Mangkhut is a category 5 storm and has caused significant devastation.

Hurricane/Tropical Storm Florence:
Hurricane Florence made landfall on the Carolina coast this morning as a Category 1 storm with heavy rain and 100 mph winds that are pushing a heavy storm surge onshore.  More than a million residents received evacuation orders earlier this week, with extensive power outages and freshwater flooding resulting from extensive rainfall over the next few days.

Thank you for your generosity and donations via Hope Community, our ECO church in Wilmington, NC.

They have raised over $30,000! Every dollar will go straight to hurricane relief. If you would like to donate, you may do so here: https://hopeforwilmington.com/florence/

A Purposeful Partnership: Overcoming the Empty Offering Plate

One of the many privileges I have had as President of TPF over the past 5 years has been watching and walking with ECO through the first years of its existence. I was invited to participate in the initial design of the ECO healthcare plan thanks to my 13 years of experience with the Board of Pensions. It has been my pleasure to serve on the Health and Wellness Committee for the denomination throughout these times.

As ECO has grown and matured, ECO and TPF have teamed together in numerous ways, including the production of the upcoming webinar, "A Purposeful Partnership: Overcoming the Empty Offering Plate." This live web event is the first in a series of hands-on help and interactive conversations that we will be offering. Together, John Terech and I will be discussing ways to encourage generosity in your congregation, as well as ways to talk about and inspire stewardship. Times are changing in the church, and we need to ensure we remain relevant with each member of our congregations. This interactive webinar is the perfect place to begin or continue this journey. Additionally, we are pleased to offer numerous educational generosity resources that will be discussed during the webinar. However, if you would like to view or order some before, they can be found at http://eco-pres.org/church-resources/financial-services

Please consider this my personal invitation to each of you. I hope you will join John Terech and I on October 11th at 11:00 a.m. Central Daylight Time to examine generosity and stewardship in your congregation.

   Welcome New ECO Churches!

Welcome DuPont Community Presbyterian Church, DuPont, WA

" I am very excited and relieved for our church to be apart of ECO - a biblically solid denomination we can trust. The process took over three years. But everyone here at the church and our session were determined to see it through.  My wife and I were thrilled to attend the inspiring annual conference last year and look forward to linking arms with such a team of quality folks as we are meeting in ECO."
