Most high, omnipotent, good Lord, grant your people grace to renounce gladly the vanities of this world; that, following the way of blessed Francis, we may for love of you delight in your whole creation with perfectness of joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Prayer for Prophetic Witness in Society  
Almighty God, whose prophets taught us righteousness in the care of your poor: By the guidance of your Holy Spirit, grant that we may do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly in your sight; through Jesus Christ, our Judge and Redeemer, who lives and reigns with you and the same Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Prayer for Social Justice
Almighty God, who created us in your own image: Grant us grace fearlessly to contend against evil and to make no peace with oppression; and, that we may reverently use our freedom, help us to employ it in the maintenance of justice in our communities and among the nations, to the glory of your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Join us for this 45 minute service of choral music, prayers, and readings, rooted in the Anglican tradition and bringing respite and inspiration to  busy and challenging lives. A recital by pianist Tammy Lum follows the service.

ANNUAL PARISH HIKE - Sunday, October 13
 
Bring the whole family - even sociable canines - for our annual parish hike in Harriman Park with Win and Tom Perry. 
 
We'll meet at 2:00pm at St. John's-in-the-Wilderness, enjoy an easy walk through the woods of Harriman Park, and return to the cozy barn for a potluck supper in front of the big stone fireplace!  Plan to bring something to share for supper.  Questions, call the office (845) 358-1297.

Last year we announced our ongoing Artist-In Residence program, loosely modeled after one sponsored by the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.  Since its founding in the 1970s, the program there has woven living art and artists into the fabric of the Cathedral. We hope that such collaboration between local artists and Grace Church will enable us to develop ongoing relationships and bring mutual awareness to the beauty of their work and that of our sacred space.
 
We're happy to announce that this month we are again featuring work by artist Posey Krakowsky an Episcopal priest in the Diocese of New York. She currently serves as a priest associate at the Church of the Ascension in Greenwich Village. An MDiv graduate of Union Theological Seminary, she also has an STM from General Seminary. Krakowsky has been blending her love of the arts and religion her entire life. She earned her bachelor's degree in early Christian studies from Harvard University, then went on to work in the world of fashion in New York for nine years before her two children were born. She later taught at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in the Bronx, NY before starting seminary. Krakowsky is an award winning fiber artist and was a guest lecturer at Union Theological Seminary, where she co-taught Art & Interfaith Dialogue -- a course which took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is committed to finding ways to bridge the divides between different faith traditions through art and dialogue. Her art website can be found at http://www.quilts.contemplativegaze.org
