Dear friends,
It's summer – at last! School’s out.
Soon our streets and playing fields and parks and pools and beaches and shopping malls will come alive with kids again.
A chance for us to come alive with them in ways that help them know how much they matter to all of us.
A time to surround our kids – those we know and those we don’t yet know – with care and attention and expectations that help build confidence and growth beyond just the inches that always seem to amaze us come fall.
What if we all commit in every way available to us to listen to our kids this summer? To get curious about what’s on their minds. To make time to be a present, interested, caring adult wherever kids show up. To not miss the simple ordinary ways each of us and all of us can help our kids feel known and cared about and valued. How about we go out of our way to love our kids this summer.
