Welcome to a new year in conservation! ISN is looking forward to continuing its efforts in northern Michigan - and starting new, exciting projects! Stay tuned for updates as we transition from planning mode into field season and check out our events page, or continue reading below, for volunteer opportunities!

Additionally, some employment opportunities will be posted in the next several months. Be sure to keep an eye out on our employment page for an up-to-date listing!

As always, ISN is happy to answer any questions you may have regarding invasive species. The winter months are a great time to think about management for the coming year. Remember to visit the MISIN site to learn about target species in this region, and read on below (or visit our site) to see several species on ISN's early detection radar!

Early Detection Species

Detecting an invasive species early is critical to proper management and (hopefully) its eradication before it greatly impacts an ecosystem. Not only is the plant easier to control but the economic benefit is substantial as well.

Many species targeted by ISN already have a known presence in northwest Michigan. However, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the species pictured below in case they escape to our region! Click on the plant name to learn more about identification and where it has already been spotted!
