Final Service of Worship - May 20
Congregational United Church of Christ, Brown Deer, will hold its final service of worship on Pentecost Sunday afternoon, May 20, 1 p.m. All are invited to join the remaining members to celebrate the congregation’s 58 years of Christian witness.

The Brown Deer congregation was incorporated in 1960 with charter members from North Shore Congregational and Plymouth Congregational churches. The Milwaukee Association of Congregational Churches welcomed Brown Deer’s 45 members in January, 1961. The congregation later elected to join the United Church of Christ.

Their first full-time minister, Rev. William C. Bishop, preached his first sermon on Easter Sunday, 1961. Services were held at St Martin’s Episcopal Church until the new building at 64th Street and Dean Road was completed in July 1963.

Since 2002 the congregation has shared its building with Faith in Christ Hmong Alliance. Rev. Greg Young has served as pastor since 2009.

Let us, the members of the Southeast Association, surround this congregation with our prayers and presence on Pentecost Sunday, May 20, at 1 p.m.

Boundary Training for All Authorized Ministers
To maintain ministerial standing in the UCC, Boundary Training is required at least every 4 years for all active and retired clergy engaging in any form of ministry. This year the Southeast Association is responsible for the training:

Thursday & Friday, June 7-8, just before the Conference Annual Meeting (register @ wcucc.org )
Tuesday, October 30, all day at First Congregational UCC, Oconomowoc (check back to register)

Under the new Manual on Ministry, retired clergy not engaging in any form of ministry may apply for the new "Exempt Status." Church & Ministry requires a letter confirming you are not engaged in any ministry and have no plans to do so in the future. Once an Exempt Status is confirmed, no further boundary training is required.

Questions? Contact Rev. Beth Abbott (bethabbott24@gmail.com) or Rev. John Helt (johncliffordhelt@gmail.com).

Are you willing to be a faith resource for Planned Parenthood patients?
Dear Faith Leaders,

I'm reaching out today to ask for your help. Planned Parenthood staff in our 21 health centers across the state, and particularly in our two abortion services centers, sometimes get requests from patients to be connected with local faith leaders that would be willing to talk with them and provide support either before or after they receive care.

We would like to compile a comprehensive list of faith leaders who are willing to be a resource to patients so that center staff can better facilitate that support.

If you're willing to be added to the list, please either reply to me or fill out this very quick survey monkey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TB58KC6 .

Please also forward this to any faith leaders you know that may be interested.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

With gratitude,
Monica

Red UCC Hymnals Available
Trinity UCC, Brookfield, has 90 copies of the red United Church of Christ Hymnal that they are not using. These have been used and are in excess of what they need. They feel that the hymnals should not simply sit on a storage shelf and wish to share them with any church that can use them.

If you have any questions, please contact Carol at contact@trinitybrookfield.org or Marlene at mhelinski1@wi.rr.com – they will gladly answer any questions you have.
