JuMP Company presents "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" on
June 20 - 23, 2018 at 7:30 PM
and June 23 at 2 PM. in the CSI Fine Arts Theater.
Take a fantastic musical adventure this summer with a wonderful family and an out-of-this-world car! Based on the beloved 1968 film version of the children's book by Ian Fleming, and featuring an unforgettable score, with songs like Toot Sweets, Hushabye Mountain, Posh!, Me Ol' Bamboo, Truly Scrumptious, Doll on a Music Box, and the Academy Award-nominated title song, the summer JuMP Company production has something for everyone!
JuMP Co., which stands for Junior Musical Playhouse Company, is now beginning its 40th year promoting theatrical education by involving youth in the performing arts and granting charitable scholarships to members seeking higher education. Although JuMP Company is a non-profit organization, everyone involved in JuMP profits from theatre education.
Tickets are $12 and are available at Kurt's Pharmacy & Hallmark, from any cast member, or at the door.

Students who participate in CSI's Expanded Technical Dual Credit program will spend half of their day at the CSI campus pursuing a career that interests and excites them. Students interested in the CSI Food Processing program will take their courses online. Also, high school students will be able to use their Federal Fast Forward funding and a CSI scholarship to help cover the cost of tuition and tools.

Mountain Bike Mondays (MBM) are back! We recommend having mountain bike experience for Indian Springs. Join us on Monday nights for a group ride. All gear provided plus limited transportation.

Sunset Paddle on the Snake

The Herrett Center for Arts and Science is hosting fun workshops for kids this summer. The workshops are from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. most Wednesdays from June 6 to Aug. 8 at the Herrett Center on the College of Southern Idaho campus. The cost ranges from $5 to $10 each depending upon the activity. Since space is limited parents are urged to sign up in advance. Registrations will be taken as long as there are spaces available. To register, call the Herrett Center at 208-732-6655 or stop by the Herrett Center.
June 27: Rattle Drums
For ages: 6 and up
Cost: $5
Bolanggu. Nodo. Pellet Drum. Rattle Drum. Whatever name it may go by, there is no doubt that this drum is a popular toy for kids of all ages around the globe. In this class, participants will learn about rattle drums and get to make one of their own to take home.
July 11: Coastal Construction
For ages 6 and up
Cost: $5
Explore Northwest Coast art and architecture in this hands-on diorama-building workshop! Participants in this class will first investigate how environment influences material culture and home design, then they will cut, color, and construct a paper diorama of a Northwest Coast Native American village, complete with totem pole and villagers.
July 18: Hoops & Darts
For Ages 8 and up
Cost: $10
Try your hand at this classic Native American game using traditional materials to construct a set of prehistoric lawn darts. Participants will build a set of corncob darts and a willow hoop, then learn the rules of this fun pastime on the Herrett Center front lawn.
July 25: Keith Haring Art Project
For Ages 8 and up
Cost: $5
Iconic pop artist Keith Haring took the world by storm in the 80's with his simple, yet fun drawings using bold outlines and bright colors. Participants in this class will study some of his famous art and create their own Haring- inspired art pieces.
August 1: Paper Beads
For Ages 8 and up
Cost: $5
People have been making beads out of all kinds of materials for thousands of years. In this class, participants will learn how to make beads out of material that is readily available to most everybody- paper! Experiment on making different styles of beads based on the types of paper used, various types of cuts, and how tightly the beads are made.
August 8: Searching for Treasure!
For Ages 4-7
Cost: $10
Treasure hunts are always fun but it is important to have a treasure chest to stash all your treasures! Participants in this class will be able to decorate their own treasure box and once everyone is done, go on a treasure hunt on the Kinney Court of the Herrett Center.

The CSI Summer Band Experience is for students age 12 and up who love music, whether they are a hobbyist, a middle or high school student, or have just always wanted to learn to play. In this week-long summer camp, jazz and classical music tracks are available. Students will get the chance to have direct contact with renowned performance faculty six hours each day, learning all about their instrument during daily sectionals, working with their peers in small chamber groups and full band settings, learning about the building blocks of music, improvising in music theory, and experiencing the greatest musical recordings and historical performances of all time in the listening lab. A culminating performance as part of the Jazz on the Canyon Festival is always a highlight of the summer.

THEATRE CAMP
Hey, kids! Want to go to the one summer camp where you'll learn how to use stage makeup to give yourself (or somebody else) bruises, gashes, and old man wrinkles? Do you want to learn how to swing a sword, take a fake punch, and fall without getting hurt? What about learning how to act and take stage directions? All of this and more is available in the week-long adventure that is CSI Theatre Camp. The camp will consist of age-appropriate breakaway classes such as makeup, set design, stage lighting, stage combat, acting, audition prep, puppets, improv, mime, costuming, musical theatre and more! There are more advanced classes for experienced and older students, and a river rafting trip for students who have already gone to camp one year.
Early Bird Registration (
postmarked by June 8
) is $185. Registration after June 8 is $205. Registration deadline is June 18. The camp will run from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in the CSI Fine Arts Center. Students will need to bring a sack lunch.
JUNIOR THEATRE CAMP
his three-day afternoon camp, a companion to the regular CSI Theatre Camp, is designed to introduce younger students to the world of theatre. Junior campers will get a behind the scenes tour of the CSI Fine Arts Center and learn the basics of what goes into a play -who does what, stage direction, how to express your emotions through performing, face painting, stage voice and movement, fun with costumes, as well as preparing a short showcase for moms and dads. Cost of the camp is $60. The camp will run from 1 - 5 p.m.

Registration is open for "CSI High School Art Intensive", which
runs from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. July 9 - 13. The class will
meet in Art Complex 112 and 102.
The registration fee is $225.
The CSI High School Art Intensive is a weeklong introduction to the 2D arts offered at CSI. This Camp is designed for students entering grades 9-12 who are interested in art and in what CSI has to offer. Over the course of a week, students will be introduced to a sampling of drawing, painting, design, and printmaking medias that will then be complied into a handmade book. If you are looking for a creative outlet over the summer, this Intensive is for you! Limited to 12 students.

Angela Batchelor holds a Master's Degree in Fine Arts From Boise State University. She taught for Portland Community College before coming to CSI to teach in the Art Department where she instructs Art History, Painting, Drawing and Printmaking. Angela also maintains an active studio practice focusing on Book Arts and Printmaking.

The Twin Falls Municipal Band continues their 113th consecutive season of concerts at the Twin Falls City Park Bandshell on
Thursday, June 21, with the concert starting at 8 PM.
The theme is "In the Land of Make Believe" and will feature Magic Valley Plein Air painters doing on-location paintings of the Band experience in the City Park.
The Band has a new director this year. Elizabeth Thomsen, music teacher at Canyon Ridge High School and Robert Stuart Middle School, will take over from former director Ted Hadley, who conducted the band for 40 years and will now be playing in the Band.
Municipal Band concerts will happen
every Thursday at 8 PM in the Twin Falls City Park Bandshell, June 7 to August 2.
A special Fourth of July Concert will be given in the CSI Fine Arts Auditorium.
