A Message from the
Superintendent
|
Lovejoy ISD will be closed for summer break the weeks of June 25th and July 2nd. We will reopen on Monday, July 9th. As many of you know, my wife and I spend this time in South Padre with our children and grandchildren. While I am looking forward to being with our family, please know you may still reach me by cell phone. If I may be of any assistance to you during the time of our break, please call or text at 972.415.8129.

We will present a safety/security report tonight at the Board of Trustees meeting, which will include our recommendations for the 2018-2019 school year and beyond. You are welcome to attend the meeting, which will occur at 7:30 PM in the Lovejoy ISD Administration Board Room.

School finance and the loss of state funding continues to be an important area of focus as we work to maintain all of the programs which make Lovejoy special. Our K - 12 tuition-based enrollment program is a great opportunity for increased district revenue and a great opportunity for families who live outside of our district boundaries, but want their children to experience a Lovejoy education. Tuition-Based Pre-K
Enrollment Open for 2018-2019

Lovejoy ISD is accepting applications for tuition-based Pre-Kindergarten. This comprehensive program is staffed by certified teachers and is housed on the Puster Elementary School campus. Enrichment offerings include music, fitness, art, library, science, technology, engineering, and math. We are proud to provide a Lovejoy education for community members seeking a rich learning experience, which will provide a firm foundation for kindergarten and beyond.

Cross Country

Each year, members of the Cross Country and Track team head to New Mexico for high-altitude training and team building. This experience not only provides strong athletic training, but extraordinary teamwork and leadership development. Special thanks to Coach Christiansen and all of the Cross Country and Track coaches who give their time and energy to provide this rewarding opportunity for our Cross Country and Track athletes.

Coding with Madi
Lovejoy High School Alum, Madison Pfaff, will present "Coding for Girls" on July 24th from 2:15 PM to 3:30 PM at Lovejoy High School. Registration is limited to the first 20 girls who are incoming 6th - 12th grade students.

Lovejoy Lacrosse - Girls Summer Clinic
Lovejoy Lacrosse will be holding a Girls Lacrosse Summer Clinic on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Willow Springs Middle School. This clinic is open to all Lovejoy girls from Kinder thru 12th grade.
Rainey Hodgson, Lovejoy Lacrosse's new girls' high school head coach and former assistant coach at Coastal Carolina University, will lead the clinic. Joining Rainey will be her former teammate at Ohio State University - Katie Chase, current assistant coach at Capital University.
The cost for the clinic is $50. However, all Lovejoy Lacrosse girls who register for the fall season prior to July 7th may attend the Summer Clinic for free.

Sports Physicals and Cardiac Screening
The Lovejoy Sports Medicine Department is offering sports physicals and hosting "Who We Play For" for cardiac screenings. Physicals and cardiac screens are open to all 2018 - 2019 incoming 7th - 12th grade student athletes. A parent or guardian should attend the physical/screening with the student to sign permission forms.
