Summer Concert Series Continues Friday, June 14
Bring the entire family and spend summer evenings under the beautiful Texas stars in the historic Downtown Garland Square!
Every other Friday night through July 12, enjoy live music beginning at 7 p.m. and fireworks to end the event at approximately 9:15 p.m. Bring blankets, chairs, water/soda, snacks, bug spray and sunblock. Also bring some cash for the vendors! The event is free.
The series continues this Friday with the Vinyl Stripes playing rockabilly and rock 'n roll classics.

District 2 Town Hall Tuesday, June 11
Join District 2 Council Member Deborah Morris for a lively one-hour State of the District review at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Central Library, 625 Austin St.
The town hall meeting will include the status of:
- Downtown revitalization plans
- approved District 2 bond projects
- dog park / playground / Central Park
- homeless concerns and interventions
- District crime report
- street and sidewalk repairs
- new "Civilian Spotters" program
- Morris Accountability Report

Mamma Mia! Opens Friday, June 14
Garland Summer Musicals opens its sensational 2019 Season with the smash hit musical Mamma Mia!
Performances continue through June 23.
Based on the songs of
legendary
pop group ABBA, Mammia Mia! follows the story of Sophie, a young bride-to-be who dreams of having her father walk her down the aisle during the upcoming wedding. However, Sophie doesn't know who he is, and plots to find out by inviting three possible candidates to the wedding!

Space Race Classics Film Discussion
Film critic Larry Ratliff will revisit space-themed films, such as

Road Closures Around Garland
Garland Road at Shiloh Road will be under construction from 7 p.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Monday, beginning Friday, June 7. A minimum of one lane of Garland Road will remain open in each direction during these times. These closures will occur over the next four weekends, weather permitting.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, June 10, Holford Road bridge will be closed completely for bridge work for approximately four weeks, weather permitting.

Residents who serve on Garland's 11 boards and commissions can make a difference in the City and be directly involved with local government. They serve in an advisory or quasi-judicial capacity, providing information directly to the Garland City Council. From planning and development to multicultural events, boards and commission members advise on a range of City services. The City will accept applications for its boards and commissions through July 1. Application forms can be found on the

Graduation Traffic Reminder
Through June 21, Garland ISD's Curtis Culwell Center, 4999 Naaman Forest Blvd., will host graduations for many area educational institutions.
In general, motorists can expect traffic congestion along Naaman Forest Boulevard and adjacent roadways approximately an hour before and 30 minutes after graduation events. Non-graduation traffic should bypass that area, if possible.
