ARNPs Streamline Neurosurgery Screening and Assessment at UHealth Community Clinics
Specially trained advanced registered nurse practitioners are now evaluating people with neurologic concerns at UHealth clinics across South Florida. Expanding access to these specialty services is one goal, but the ARNPs also aim to speed up the time it takes for patients to be assessed and referred, when warranted, to a neurosurgeon or other health care provider.

Neurosurgery can be complex, but the process to get screened doesn't have to be. That is what neurosurgery leaders at UHealth - the University of Miami Health System recognized when launching the new ARNP Clinic Program in April.

"The ARNP Clinic Program is off to a great start - these professionals are making a true difference. They are meeting with patients close to where they live and work, and doing an initial assessment for neurosurgery that can save time and money," said Allan D. Levi, MD, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. "It's really about extending our expertise on the main campus out into neighborhoods across South Florida."

MediXall.com Launches Its Healthcare Marketplace to Make the Affordable Care Act (ACA) More Affordable for Consumers
MediXall Group Inc., (OTCQB: MDXL), based in Ft. Lauderdale, announced earlier this month that the company has launched MediXall.com to uninsured and high-deductible consumers throughout the state of Florida. This first full-featured platform launch will focus on Radiology Full Diagnostics, which includes MRI, CT, PET, X-rays, ultrasound, mammogram scans and more. MediXall.com will subsequently be rolling out an extended list of in-demand medical and dental specialties in the near future.

Radiology diagnostic imaging centers became the initial specialty for the full launch because MediXall's research indicated this sector of the healthcare industry suffers the most serious pricing discrepancies, thus, acutely in need of a pricing transparency intervention. In Florida, prices for MRIs, PET scans, CT scans, X-Rays and other diagnostic imaging services can vary widely, within a town, or county-without necessarily any real difference in the quality of outcomes as well. For example, MRI costs can range from $400 to over $3000 for the same service within South Florida.
Breast Surgeon Joins Medical Staff of Women's Institute
Officials at Boca Raton Regional Hospital announced earlier this week the appointment of Kerry-Ann McDonald, MD, to the medical staff of the Christine E. Lynn Women's Health & Wellness Institute (LWHWI) and BocaCare® Physician Network. She specializes in benign and malignant breast disease.

Dr. McDonald is a board-eligible breast surgeon. She received her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York. She then completed her General Surgical Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania followed by a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York.
