Developing Today's Disciples
Thu., May 10, 2018
Congratulations Confirmands!
SAT., MAY 12, 5:30 PM
Confirmation is an important rite of passage in an individual’s discipleship journey. A rite of passage is a ceremony at the completion of an undertaking that moves one into adult status in the community. The Apostle Paul declares that all of us begin our faith journey as infants, feeding on the simple promises of God like spiritual milk. Confirmation is the process through which the Church takes these children in the faith (regardless of biological age) and begins to teach them the deeper truths and more complicated understandings that God offers us in His Word. Like an infant learning to eat solid food, this is a process that begins to shape a person’s spiritual development in profound ways.

As we celebrate the end of spiritual childhood in the lives of these young men and women, it is truly a celebration for all of us. From the congregational perspective, we fulfill the Great Commission today. Christ commanded us to baptize and teach all nations. In these twenty-three lives this command has been fulfilled. While their faith journey has just begun, today we celebrate the solid foundation upon which they can love and serve God for the rest of their lives.
It's Not Too Late to Join the Celebration!
Immanuel extends grateful thanks to the 118 individuals and families who shared their intentions to worship the Lord by returning time and talents through 96 additional volunteer efforts and Bible study involvements and $848,110 in tithes and offerings pledged for the 2018 2019 ministry year that begins Jul. 1. Returning a portion of the gifts God provides allows us to be a blessing to others, which is not only our responsibility as Christians, but our honor and our joy.

If you have not yet completed a Partner in Discipleship card, you may do so by completing the confidential online form here or downloading the PDF version here. Hard copies can be returned to Immanuel by mailing them to 950 Hart Rd., Batavia, Illinois 60510 or dropping in the collection plate or the church office in an enveloped marked Partner in Discipleship. Questions can be directed to Pr. Erik Kennaugh, Lead Pastor, or Bonnie Dannenberg, Bookkeeper. They can both also be reached by calling 630 879 7163.
