Catholic Charities Long Term Care Ombudsmans
This is the second of a three-part series on ministries provided by Catholic Charities of Louisville. Each of these ministries was featured during prayer services held by Catholic Charities during Lent.

Our LORD is the defender of the vulnerable.

He makes that so clear throughout Scripture.

And I consider it a privilege to sit among some of our most vulnerable elders.

Those in Long Term Care have lost so much of their independence physically, needing assistance with going to the bathroom, keeping their skin clean, and eating.

And as a Long Term Care Ombudsman, I intend to protect them from losing their dignity that is given to them by our Creator.

When I walk into a nursing home room, I can never predict what I will encounter, but I remember that 86% of our residents never receive a visitor. I am honored to reflect back to them their worth through my presence and my listening.

As a young man, I never thought I would be able to embrace the celibate state, accepting Christ’s call to love his people as he does and trusting that his grace is sufficient for me. As someone with a need for order and control, I never thought I would know the peace and freedom that comes from surrendering my will to the will of God. As someone who at times is overwhelmed by the weight of my sins, I never thought I would hold a chalice filled with the Blood that dripped from the cross for... Read More
