The launch of our pilot COE training program this week signals sees the unification of our P200 efforts to date. Our foundational work implementing Spend Analytics and Supplier Registration and Sourcing provides a solid base from which we will pursue strategic initiatives in a coordinated manner, leveraging the power of our collective spend.

 

The Strategic Sourcing Operating Model Design Team has developed an initial set of commercial terms and procurement best practices that will shape the strategies developed and implemented by the category COEs for the opportunities identified in our pilot categories - Life Sciences and MRO/Facilities.

Centers of Excellence in action

The launch of the Life Sciences and MRO Centers of Excellence came about after an intensive couple of months working with our COE Design Team, the PLC and Accenture. The idea behind the COEs was that small, focused groups of commodity and sourcing specialists working virtually from across the system would be formed and tasked with specific commodities to manage.

Priority Performance Management metrics approved by PLC

The performance management team made great strides over the past month developing a framework for standard performance management and metrics across UC.  The PLC approved our three priority performance metrics, Addressable Spend, Total UC Benefit (Savings), and Procurement ROI, which will be implemented Fall 2013 for system wide, quarterly reporting.

Did you know that by using Spend Analytics, Accenture was able to identify more than 80 opportunities for UC, 50 of which are under review by the COEs?

Spend Analytics Phase 2 kicks off

We're excited to announce the start of the Spend Analytics Phase 2 project.  Phase 2 will be divided into three, 17 week waves with each campus being assigned to a wave.  UCSD, UC Berkeley, and UCSF are in wave 1 which is scheduled to begin September 9th 2013.
