UPCOMING LAKOTA SCHOOL DISTRICT EVENTS
Master Facilities Planning Community Meeting

Wednesday, February 26 at 6 p.m.

Lakota West Freshman School (Innovation Hub)

Lakota continues to make progress toward building a Master Facilities Plan (MFP) that protects Lakota's most important physical assets and supports the type of learning that will carry our schools into the future. A series of stakeholder focus groups is the second phase in Lakota’s efforts to engage the larger community in shaping the final facilities plan. The visioning phase involves defining Lakota’s long-term vision for teaching and learning and then applying those priorities to the physical attributes of our facilities. The second at-large community meeting will share the common themes that emerged throughout this phase.

Summer Fun Fair

Monday, March 2 (Lakota East HS) & Monday, March 4 (Lakota West HS) at 6-8 p.m.

Lakota’s Summer Fun Fair is a great way for parents to learn about the many local businesses and non-profit organizations who provide summer programming for students in grades K-12. Vendors range from summer camps, learning centers and childcare facilities to athletic leagues, art programs, and local parks and recreation. They will be available all at one time and in one location to share information and answer questions about their summer offerings. Live entertainment by some of our performing arts vendors will be provided and door prizes will be drawn each evening.

  State of the Schools

Wednesday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. (School Showcase); 7 p.m. (program)

Superintendent Matthew Miller will deliver the district’s third annual “State of the Schools” address on March 11. The event is open to the entire community. Miller will cover many topics, including current examples and future plans to support the district’s current strategic plan. Evidence of Lakota’s progress toward a personalized, future-ready K-12 educational experience will be presented by Miller alongside student and staff speakers.
