Rocket Nation - Light Up McNIck: Tuition Assistance

.
The Archbishop McNicholas High School alumni community wants good things for others. We share our love of McNicholas High School with past, present, and future Rockets, parents, and grandparents of Rockets, and friends of McNicholas.
For the first time in McNicholas High School's history, the Rockets will host a Friday night football game on our own campus on August 24, 2018. Many people have worked very hard to bring this night to fruition, and they continue working to make the Paradise complex and Penn Station Stadium look fabulous every day. Light Up McNick will be a great celebration of the history of how Paradise started and how far we have come.

In conjunction with this event, we are launching our  Rocket Nation initiative, a tuition assistance program that will help children that want a Catholic education get one.

Rocket Nation is:
*An enthusiastic group of supporters of McNicholas High School
*Dedicated to providing tuition assistance to current and future Rockets
*Open to McNicholas alumni, McNicholas parents and faculty, and any friends of McNicholas High School.

Rocket Nation objectives are to:
*Create excitement and support for McNicholas High School
*Raise funds to help future Rockets who need tuition assistance
*Reengage past alumni and reignite their passion for McNicholas.
*Increase enrollment and secure the future of McNicholas.

Membership in Rocket Nation is a $100 annual tax-deductible donation. Please contact Mark Doran, Director of Development,  [email protected] or 513-231-3500, ext. 5141 for more information.

Connecting the Dots - Welcome to our Newest Alumni

"This place creates a lot of great feelings for many of us who have spent some time here, both for what we were doing and for the people who were with us. You can learn a lot about someone when you journey to Paradise with them every day because it is a place that demands that you give of and be yourself."

--Mr. Jeff Mulvey, English teacher

Archbishop McNicholas High School graduated 157 students on Sunday, May 20 in the first ceremonies ever held outdoors in Penn Station Stadium in the Paradise complex. The Class of 2018 followed bagpiper Frank Lowden into the stadium, and after they received their diplomas, faculty and staff who are alumni of McNicholas presented the graduates with the traditional alumni medals. Valedictorian Isabella Daley and salutatorian Wade Brokamp spoke to the families and friends of graduates during the ceremony.

Each year, the graduating class selects a faculty member to speak at graduation. For the second year in a row and the third time in four years, seniors selected Mr. Jeff Mulvey. Click here to read his speech to the Class of 2018.

Alumni Awards - Final Call for Nominations

Last year, Archbishop McNicholas High School announced our new recognitions for alumni. It is now time to start thinking about deserving alumni for this year's awards. In conjunction with these awards, McNicholas also will host a special event on October 9, 2018, in the CafĂ© and Student Union where these awards will be presented. (Archbishop McNicholas was ordained a Dominican priest on October 10, 1901.) The following day, October 10, the recipients will be introduced to the  students at an all-school assembly.

Selection
The McNicholas community will have the opportunity to nominate for this awards, and the nomination form is now available. If you nominated someone last year, we still have his of her name on file. All three awards will be selected by a committee of school representatives.  Nominations are due by June 20, and the committee will announce its selections in July.

Awards
The Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented annually to one male and  one female McNicholas graduate who have honored McNicholas High School with their outstanding professional achievements, volunteer activities, and community-organization advocacy. These alumni have shared their affection for McNicholas and its community and have been shining examples of high moral and ethical standards and values learned at McNicholas High School.

The Full Stature Special Achievement Award will be presented to an alumni who exemplifies the ideals and mission of McNicholas High School and the Sisters of St. Joseph. It is presented to an individual in recognition of his or her accomplishments which bring honor to self and school and whose service, leadership, and concern for McNicholas support, strengthen, and exemplify the school's mission. This award is bestowed as a lifetime recognition and will not necessarily be presented annually.

The McNicholas Outstanding Service Award  will be presented to a member of the McNicholas community who has made, through years of tireless effort, significant contributions of time, talent, and treasure to the growth of McNicholas High School.
