Frisco Family Services Summer Lunch Program
June 3rd - August 2nd
|
|
School's out, what's for lunch?
The Summer Lunch Program ensures that during the summer, school-age children have access to nutritious lunches and weekend snack packs, and keep their bodies and minds active by participating in physical activities, summer reading, arts and crafts and social time.

Proud Partner of the Dallas Morning News Charities
Kids' Summer Feeding Campaign
|
|
Lunch should never go on
summer break.
1 in 4 kids in North Texas is food-insecure. That's more than 300,000 children in areas that we would not expect, such as Frisco. With your help, The Dallas Morning News Charities Kids' Summer Feeding Campaign, which runs May 15 - July 10, will be able to fund six organizations, in addition to Frisco Family Services, that provide nutritious meals to children whose lives are thrown in disarray when school is on break.

Food for Thought
Many nonprofit agencies refer to the summer months as "hungry season". Ever wonder why?
With more than
7,500 Frisco ISD students on the free/reduced lunch program at school
, families going through difficult times in our community take on extra stress during the summer months when their kids require more meals at home.
|
|
"It’s one thing as a parent not to know where your meal is going to come from," Executive Director of Frisco Family Services, Nicole S. Bursey said. "It’s another thing not to know where your kid's meal will come from."

Board of Directors Spotlight - Abel Silva
|
|
We would like to take a moment to recognize a member of our very valuable Board of Directors, Abel Silva Jr - currently serving his first year on Frisco Family Services’ Board of Directors. With over 30 years of experience in information technology management and operations, Abel has held key positions in both corporate and consulting organizations, and is now the owner of Validus Technology Group. Validus delivers successful strategy consulting project solutions and managed services to clients in various industries, including oil and gas, healthcare, manufacturing, environmental, retail, and marketing.
Seeing the passion, enthusiasm, and dedication that others who serve their local community through Frisco Family Services have, is what excites Abel about being a member of our Board of Directors. What he most wants to accomplish is to “provide service and give back to those in need.”
Abel may have relocated North over the years, finally landing in Frisco, but was sure to bring with him his small-town charm and Texas-sized pride from his hometown of Kingsville, Texas. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” is his favorite quote, and with so many years of experience in his field of work, we were not surprised to find out that he is currently writing a book titled:
The Workplace – A Circus for Everyone
. Although he has not made it public yet, we can tell his passion is sure to be demonstrated on every page because when asked what he would do if he had more hours in the day, he excitedly stated that he would “continue to write.”
Abel may hold more than a few titles - Frisco Family Services’ Board Member, business owner, author… but at the end of the day, he is most proud to be called a loving member of his family. In fact, the best advice he ever received comes from his mom - “If you work hard and always do the right thing, then things will always have a tendency to work out.” Besides time spent with his wife, Alpha, and their three dogs and four parakeets, in his free time he most enjoys golfing and jogging.
We treasure each and every Board member, and are so grateful for their time and talents dedicated to ensuring the success of our clients and building a caring community.
