God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Almighty God, whose prophets taught us righteousness in the care of your poor: By the guidance of your Holy Spirit, grant that we may do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly in your sight; through Jesus Christ, our Judge and Redeemer, who lives and reigns with you and the same Spirit, one God, now and for ever. St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380)... received a vision of Jesus Christ as a bridge reaching from heaven to earth, forever joining "humanity with the greatness of the Godhead."
Catholic Worker founder Dorothy Day (1897-1980) was fond of citing Catherine's inspiration in her own reflections, often writing "All the way to heaven is heaven." I'd also add "It's hell all the way to hell."
You're choosing your destiny right now. You are responsible, not God. Do you want to live in love and communion? Or do you want to live in constant opposition to others and life itself?

Next Sunday, June 9 we'll recognize all our faithful church school teachers during the 9:30am service. Afterwards we'll gather outside for an end-of-the-year celebration potluck.

Roof Repair and Replacement Projects Status and Funding Consideration
Repair work on the roof over classrooms and Memorial Hall began on May 16 and the replacement of the Bradley Chapel and offices roof will be starting soon. Replacement of the Bradley Chapel roof is part of Phase III of the Cornerstone Campaign, but the money remaining in the Cornerstone Fund is not sufficient to cover the total cost.
The total estimated cost of both projects is $209,000.00. Vestry approved use of the Knott Braxton Fund (an undesignated bequest) as needed to fund the work along with seeking grant and loan monies. In May the Property Support Committee of the Diocese approved a $50,000 grant as well a $50,000 loan towards the cost of the two projects.
At its May meeting vestry discussed concerns about the interest rate and payment terms for the ten-year loan as well as consideration of an alternative to the diocesan loan: parishioner loans. This approach was used in 2013 to provide $50,000 in funds for rectory repairs; the loans were repaid within the five-year term.
Vestry is seeking expression of interest from parishioners for lending a minimum amount of $5,000 per five-year loan at the interest rate of 3.00% per year, with interest paid on a quarterly basis. [Example: a loan of $5,000 would earn a total of $750 interest via quarterly payments of $37.50 if the loan was not repaid until the end of the term; if the loan is repaid sooner, only interest earned to date would be received.]

Vestry will be deciding at its June 18 meeting whether to proceed with the Diocese or parishioner loan approach. The loan period would begin July 1, 2019.

This week's earth-friendly living tip: Buy fair trade products.
What comes to mind when you hear the words "fair trade"? Better wages for workers? Family farms instead of large corporations? Sure. But what about stronger environmental standards?
According to Fairtrade International, in order for a product to be certified Fairtrade, it must meet the Fairtrade Climate Standard: "Farmers must make sustainable agriculture and climate adaptation part of their farm management, tackling issues such as water scarcity and soil erosion. Looking to the future, farmers are introducing renewable energy to mitigate carbon emissions from the production process."
So the next time you're shopping, whether for yourself or your parish, make sure you buy Fairtrade products to help both the human and non-human members of God's creation!
