Madrid is trying out E-Scooters in its quest to beat Traffic
A half-dozen companies have flooded Madrid with electric versions of Vespa-type sit-down scooters. Riders pick them up and drop them off anywhere in the city centre and surrounding areas. They’re booked and billed via a smartphone app, which can guide users to the nearest bike, track how long they’ve been riding, and e-mail a bill moments after they park. "Literature" Tube Map replaces stations with titles of books set in the area
The London Underground map features book titles from authors including Charles Dickens, Martin Amis and Zadie Smith. The map, which covers most of Zones 1 and 2, includes seven appearances from Mr Dickens, with Colin MacInnes featuring three times and Graham Greene appearing twice. Sherlock Holmes, written by Arthur Conan Doyle, replaces his home station of Baker Street. It also featured books such as The Girl on the Train, Oliver Twist and Paddington Bear. Read more

The European Climate Foundation (ECF) – a ‘foundation of foundations’ – was established in early 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to help Europe foster the development of a low-carbon society and play an even stronger international leadership role to mitigate climate change. Their vision includes three main goals:

  • Staying below 2°C of warming relative to pre-industrial levels
