Food for Thought is a monthly, members-only e-newsletter from the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology (CIFST).

PRESIDENTIAL FODDER With a heavy heart, I am writing my last ‘Food for Thought’ as President of your organization.  It’s been a wild 3-year tenure under my leadership as we embarked on a new strategic plan, brought on new management staff, streamlined our committees, created a new membership structure, and designed a multi-functional website. We also launched new member-only benefits such as the Annual Food Summit , a mentorship program , a webinar series , and new value-added guides for industry professionals. But what I am most proud of are the friendships and relationships I have made along this journey. The strength of this organization stems from the many volunteers that work tirelessly to support CIFST’s agenda. Its been a pleasure to work with the staff, my fellow board members, and the many committee volunteers. I thank you for all your patience during our restructuring phase, and I am looking forward to touching base with everyone at our Annual Food Summit in Halifax next week. Sincerely ,

Annual General Meeting of members scheduled for May 23 Join us us at the 2019 Canadian Food Summit in Halifax, NS As it did last year, the Annual General Meeting of CIFST members will take place in conjunction with the Institute's annual national conference. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 23 at 2:00pm at the Westin Nova Scotian during the 2019 Canadian Food Summit in Halifax, NS. The agenda of the 2019 AGM will include the following items of business: Approval of the minutes of the 2018 AGM Presidential report Review of financial statements and auditor's report Presentation of the 2019-2020 slate of directors Important: Please review the agenda, 2018 minutes, and financial statement HERE . If you are unable to attend the 2019 CIFST AGM in person, you are entitled to name a proxy as your representative. Proxy forms in both English and French can be downloaded HERE . Please note completed forms should be forwarded to the CIFST National office prior to 12 noon EST on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 or brought to the AGM by your proxy.
