Sports Physicals - New Process
Students wishing to participate in athletics during the 2018-2019 school year must submit the following paperwork online:
  • PIAA Physical Form
  • Athlete & Parent Agreement
  • ImPACT Test
Students wishing to play any sport during the 2018-2019 school year MUST verify the paperwork is on file with Mr. Hayek no later than Wednesday, August 1, at 3 PM; no exceptions.

NEW!! PLEASE NOTE THIS IMPORTANT CHANGE

The York Catholic Athletic Department now hosts their Athletic Forms online with Arbiter Athlete, powered by PlanetHS, a software company committed to keeping student(s) safe. This digital platform will allow parents and athletes to complete and access most athletic forms (physicals, agreements, etc.) via computer, tablet, or mobile phone. It is HIPPA, COPPA, and FERPA compliant.

Quick Links

Before forms can be completed by parent and student, ArbiterAthlete accounts must be set-up by each athlete and his or her parent. Click here for instructions on how to set-up an account. Forms will be valid for the entire 2018-2019 school year.

If your child did not attend the York Catholic Physicals Night at OSS, you will need to make an appointment with your family doctor or go to one of the Urgent Care Centers. Be sure to complete the information online and only print 2 pages (Sections 5 & 6) for the doctor to review and complete.

If your child did participate in York Catholic Physicals Night, be sure to complete step #3 in the instructions.

Failure to complete the online paperwork by the deadline will mean the student will not be permitted to practice the first day of the season. For some sports, this could mean the student will not make the team. Contact Mr. Hayek at  [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x244 if you have any questions and to be sure you have a valid ImPACT Test on file. If you need technical assistance with Arbiter Athlete/PlanetHS, email [email protected].

Summer Assignments
Reading
York Catholic High School views the development of life-long habits of reading as a hallmark of an educated man or woman, and it encourages each student to read widely throughout the year.  The school also recognizes the value of other on-going academic engagement during the summer months.  Summer reading and other intellectual activities serve to stimulate, to enrich, and to reinforce academic skills during the summer hiatus.  Each current student has received a packet with the assignments for summer reading.  The assignments are also available on the home page of the YC website at yorkcatholic.org in the Announcements section, titled, "Summer Assignments," and on the Forms & Documents page.  Each grade level's requirements are clearly explained and testing and/or projects are due at the start of the 2018-19 school year. Click  here for the list of books for the summer reading projects.

Math
Keeping students' math skills strong during the summer months helps to avoid the "summer slide" and aids in less review time when school resumes. Students should complete their Summer Math Assignments and return them by August 27.  The assignments are available on the home page of the YC website at yorkcatholic.org   in the Announcements section, titled, "Summer Assignments," and on the Forms & Documents page.
Uniform Exchange
The uniform exchange will be available for trades and purchases on June 20 from 4-6 PM. Walk-ins on days other than this date cannot be accommodated. If you need uniforms, bring your gently worn items for an even trade or purchase some at a reduced price: skirts $10, pants $8, sweaters $6, shirts $4. Uniforms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If anyone is interested in helping with the summer uniform exchanges, please contact Heather Hoffman at 717-846-8871 x220.
Flynn & O'Hara Uniforms

F lynn & O'Hara encourages parents to shop early and take advantage of the many convenient ways to shop for school uniforms. Parents may shop at a retail location, visit www.flynnohara.com , or call 1-800-441-4122. Avoid the long lines and waits by shopping before August 1.
Senior Pictures
Each year YC enters into a contract with a professional photographer, Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch, for the senior pictures appearing in our yearbook, Rosa Mystica. All senior yearbook photos must be taken by Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch.  Pictures from any other photographer cannot be accepted for the yearbook. Parents of  Juniors have received mailed information from Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch with instructions regarding guidelines and the scheduled date and time of your student's senior picture at the Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch Studio located in the air conditioned YC cafeteria.  Please arrive prior to your scheduled appointment so you are ready for your assigned time. If you did not receive a postcard, please call Lifetouch at 1-800-445-1189.

Every senior must get their picture taken, however, seniors are under no obligation to purchase the photo. If desired, students can purchase yearbook photo packages from Lifetouch. Lifetouch contributes a portion of package purchases back to York Catholic.

Please observe the following guidelines regarding appearance for photos. All gentlemen must be clean shaven and wear a dress shirt, tie, and sport coat or suit jacket. Hair must be regulation length.  No piercings are allowed. Ladies will be provided with a black shoulder drape for photos. Only necklaces and earrings are allowed for the yearbook picture of the young women.  Please remove any facial jewelry.

If you have any questions, please contact Lifetouch at 1-800-445-1189.
Immunizations Needed
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has established school immunization requirements for all students. The regulations are intended to ensure that children attending school in PA are adequately protected against potential outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases. A child must have the required medically-appropriate vaccines or a plan to complete those vaccines or risk exclusion from school.

Children in grades 7-12 need the following immunizations for attendance:
  • 4 doses of tetanus * (1 dose on or after 4th birthday)
  • 4 doses of diphtheria* (1 dose on or after 4th birthday)
  • 4 doses of acellular pertussis* (1 dose on or after 4th birthday)
  • 4 doses of polio (4th dose on or after 4th birthday and at least 6 months after previous dose given)
  • 2 doses of measles, mumps, and rubella (usually given as MMR)
  • 3 doses of hepatitis B
  • 2 doses of varicella (chickenpox) or evidence of immunity
  • 2 doses meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV)
    • 1st dose is given 11-15 years of age; a 2nd dose is required at age 16 or entry into 12th grade.
    • If the dose was given at 16 years of age or older, only one dose is required.
  • 1 dose of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) - age 11 or older

*   Usually given as DTaP or DTP or DT or Td

If you submitted doctor's documentation of the administration of these vaccines previously, you do not need to repeat this step unless an additional booster or immunization is needed or has been given in the past year. (Students entering grades 10, 11, & 12 - please note the dose requirements for the MCV vaccine.) All new students must submit doctor's documentation of the dates the above doses were administered to the York Catholic nurse by August 1, 2018. If any of the required immunizations will not be given by August 1, please click here for the PLAN form to detail the dates the immunizations are scheduled to be given.

Under Pennsylvania state law, students without the required immunizations or a plan with scheduled dates of administration on file, cannot be admitted to school.

If you have any questions, please contact Diane Lupinetti, York Catholic nurse, at 717-846-8871 x221 or [email protected] or consult the PA Department of Health website at www.dontwaitvaccinate.pa.gov.

Congratulations Service Award Recipients
York Catholic students are required to perform service hours each year. Senior high students are required to document sixteen hours a year, and junior high students are required to document twelve hours a year. Service to others is a component of a York Catholic education, and it is our hope that as our students mature, service becomes more than just a requirement, and inspires a life-long commitment to give back to the community.

We would like to acknowledge students who went above and beyond this year, giving more than was asked.   These students gave generously of their time and talent in various locations and assisted at different events. A sampling of venues would include local food pantries, parish ministries, parish carnivals and festivals, Pleasant Acres Nursing Home, Country Meadows Retirement Community, Habitat for Humanity, Helping Hands of York, The American Cancer Society, and Leg Up Farms.
