Expansion of Dependent Care Support for Faculty and Staff
Full-time faculty and staff facing dependent care challenges due to COVID-related closings of school, child care and elder care services are now eligible for a COVID Dependent Care Grants of up to $3,000 per employee through the end of the fiscal year (June 30, 2021), an increase from the previous maximum $1,000 offered. BGE’s Gayatri Sanku in Bark Tank
Gayatri Sanku, (G’22), PhD candidate in microbiology & immunology, goes nose to nose with seven other contestants in this week’s annual Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize #BarkTank pitch competition. Sanku will pitch her website, “COVID Can I Do It?” which aims to ensure anyone, anywhere, can assess their risks for COVID-19 during their daily life, empowering them to make informed decisions. Mulroney Serves as Chair of Judges for Middle School STEM Competition
Susan Mulroney, PhD, professor of pharmacology and physiology, has completed her third year as the chair of the judges for the annual Broadcom MASTERS (Math, Applied Science, Technology, and Engineering for Rising Stars), the nation’s premier middle school STEM competition. The competition seeks to identify and reward up-and-coming students who will make up the next generation of scientists. Mulroney was a judge for three years before becoming chair of the judging panel in 2018. The Broadcom MASTERS is run by the Society for Science & the Public with support from the Broadcom Foundation.

The President’s Awards for Distinguished Scholar-Teachers are annual awards celebrating the accomplishments of our faculty in their research and their teaching.
