Out and about

There is a wonderful selection of gardens to visit near Crinan and spring is definitely one of the best times of the year to see them.  Scotland's Gardens Scheme is one way to find out where you can go, perhaps starting with the Crinan Hotel's own secret garden which is part of the scheme.

Just up the road from Crinan, there are big plans afoot at historic Kilmartin for a major redevelopment of the museum. Informative guided glen walks take place every Wednesday at 1.30 pm

You can find out about local wildlife at the  Information and Wildlife Interpretation Centre run by the Heart of Argyll Wildlife Organisation - it is just a short drive from the Hotel or within walking distance for those who fancy stretching their legs.

Festivals in Argyll and Bute

All sorts of festivals will be taking place near Crinan over the next few months.  Here is a selection of just some of them.

Highlands and Islands Music and Dance Festival (Oban - 4th - 6th May)   The festival began in 1984, when its aims were to encourage young talent to participate in and develop the traditional arts of music and dance of the highlands and islands of Scotland.

Campbeltown Malts Festival (Springbank - 23rd - 25th May)  Once again, the festival will celebrate the quality malts produced and bottled in Campbeltown and there will be a full programme of events planned throughout the 3 day festival.

FyneFest (Cairndow 1st - 3rd June) FyneFest is a three-day celebration of beer, food and music, taking place in Cairndow Argyll at the Fyne Ales brewery estate.

Boat trips on the MV Sgarbh

The Crinan Hotel offers boat trips on the MV Sgarbh on some of the finest cruising waters in the world, never mind just the west coast of Scotland.

The MV Sgarbh is a fully restored classic motor boat based at Crinan right outside the hotel which overlooks the Crinan Canal, the gateway to the Atlantic and the islands.

Crinan Gallery and Exhibitions

In the Hotel's Gallery, we have an exhibition of  new work by  Caroline Hunter until May 5th and then there will be an exhibition of work by Frances Macdonald and Ross Ryan.

During May, Ross Ryan will have a major show at the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh, "The Logbook - A solo winter voyage".  In September 2017, Ross set sail from Crinan aboard the MV Sgarbh which was to be his home and studio for the next 60 days. Throughout his journey and through often heavy weather, Ross captured the changing scenery of Scotland's west coast, charting his voyage with his own unique interpretation of light, weather, and landscape.
